View Full Version : Is this detox or a new refinement of my nasal senses??

I am just barely on day five of 100% raw after a 40 day Master Cleanse - and I noticed today that the normally pleasant and mild scent of my soap made me sneeze and was not so pleasant or mild.
When I showered after dancing later, I noticed the same obnoxiousness to the scent of my shampoo and conditioner. Just a week ago I was happily cleansing and loving these smells. Now they bother me... is this detox or a natural part of going raw?? Anyone else go through this? Do I need to switch brands or does this go away?? Boy, does this question feel silly.
Best Always,
LN

Are they commercial products? If so, you may have become senstive to the chemicals - if not commerical products, but organic and natural, switch brands to perhaps an unscented one. I have used castile soap, but scented and unscented. I have also used witch hazel to clean my hair. I do not know if Witch Hazel is good for your hair type as I am African American, but it has worked wonderfully for me and made my haor soft.

Yeah, this happened to me too.
I can no longer tolerate the smell of perfumes, colognes, insense or certain scented candles without it irritating my nose. I think after your body gets cleaned out, you become really sensitive to irritants and chemicals as Sweetlips said. Your senses get heightened and things that never bothered you before as far as scents or even things on your skin might now affect you.

YEP, this is natural, and you'll probably have to toss all your makeup hair stuff, shampoos, soaps etc. All the chemicals and fragrances in them are NOT natural and you are, so they will cause you distress.
The best shampoo and soap is honey, and the best condition is lemon juice, apple cider vinegar or coffee or tea.
deoderant is apple cider vinegar, and that's about all you need, if you like lotion or cream, you can use olive oil. Some use coconut butter or oil, but I like olive oil better.
Pretty soon your own natural fresh scent will smell better than any perfume to you.

I was running into a lot of that today. It seemed like everywhere that my mom and I went, something smelled bad. The elevator in the hospital had a smell to it ... stuff like that. She finally just told me to "turn off my nose" ... lol ... :)

Thanks! That really helps me, I will replace the soaps, shampoos etc with pleasure. New nice smells are always welcome.
Best,
