I'm not sure how long I can last but, I'm sure I can last a long time since I took a picture of my detox breakouts from raw and everytime I wanna eat I just look at that picture, to remind myself why I wanted to fast in the first place.
I tried doing this before but gave up on the first day. This time I'm on summer vacation so I can do it.
I'm going to post my results on here after my fast is over. I just started today and I'm not hungary. I've been eating just oranges for a week so I'm not missing out on anything anyway :)
Sorry for sliping in a question but, does anyone know of a natural sunblock?

I don't know of one to put outside of you, but brazil nuts are high in selenium, and it's like sunblock from the inside. =]

hey you,
join the big fasting thread that's been happening for a while.
we're all fasting over there and you'll find great support.
If you have been eating only oranges for a week, then I think you will do just find on this fast.
Just remember how proud you will be of yourself if you do this. Always think about that!

I will be super proud if I do get this fast done, I just hope my body doesn't give up and give in to my taste buds.
I will check out that thread also! Thanks :)

Hi, Lily, et al, my ds and I started today on a water-only fast. We'll segue into juices at some point, I'm thinking like you 4-7 days.
I'm finding my normal hangout on rawfoodtalk (the food/recipes forum) is too hard for today! Even the big fasting thread is hard with the mention of all the yummy liquids. So for now, do you mind if I hang out on your water-only thread? :) Company would be nice.
It's been hard to fast here at home, though we've tried several times; the most I've made it on water is 4 days. (We fasted longer at a lifestyle center before and saw some amazing changes.) This time, I felt we'd not make it far through temptation (the first two days being the hardest, and I'm not doing too well with temptation lately myself, lol) and we really feel we need to fast. My ds is counting on me to make it through with him. Neither of us can break the fast without the other succumbing soon. So...
We cleaned out the kitchen and pantry and cabinets this morning. I am serious about this fast!
Sent the good veggies and fruit in with my dh to his office fridge -- don't have to worry about him having fuel / lunches and b'fasts at work. And I don't have to be a chef this week! (I kept a few ounces of celery juice in case of an acidic stomach, medicinal so to speak.)
Took the contents of my inside freezer and put them in the deep freeze which has a LOCK. (Dh has the key, and he's not HERE! ROFL)
Pantry and drawer contents, nuts and little stuff I didn't put in the freezer are in boxes in my dh's trunk.
So even when the thought passed my mind today, I wasn't able to follow through on it. Very helpful! I'm sure I won't need it forever but these precautions will help me follow through on this commitment.
I had energy this morning and puttered around restoring order from our big kitchen clean out. But I think we're both slowing down now. I read, napped, and then took my ds out to a funny movie at the dollar theater as a distraction this afternoon.
Well, just visiting and saying hi, how's it going?

GREAT IDEA.
I always find the hardest thing about fasting is that I feel so tempted by all the food around the house.
I find it hard to fast if there is ANY food in the house, I just feel bad, like I'm wasting, and I need to eat it.
okay, so I've been playing with the idea of getting back into fasting after my little divergence this weekend, and I'm GOING TO DO IT.
tomorrow...
tomorrow I'll be back with all of you. WATER WATER WATER.
and if you guys are going to, I will ALSO post on this thread as to avoid juice temptation on the other thread.
I'm SO happy about fasting again.
The full moon is here soon, and I'd like to be food free for that!

Glad to have company, Nadien. :)
I have a headache and am flushing despite a/c, hot but cold. Noticed earlier my son's skin was all hot. Hmm, don't remember that before in a water fast but maybe I wouldn't have noticed as there wasn't great a/c.
Which brings me to the thought that this stage of fasting sure does make me self-centered. lol I read others who are fasting and it's helping them focus spiritually. Lovely. Just not there yet! :) Will be watching for the stage of acceptance; I'm sure it'll come. This is the stage of whines and distraction, rofl.
Is anyone else on water only?

I've tried to eat brazil nuts several times, as it's something we can get raw. Each time, I have a reaction. :( A pity as I really like them. Maybe some day.
I guess we should talk about this on a different forum, not on our water-only thread! <G> I wasn't thinking!

Day Two. Usually harder. I feel restless and water is not satisfying. Patience is required. Digestive system not shut down yet. Exercise is appealing, but I'm depriving myself of a walk -- seems too much trouble.
Anyone water fasting with us?

It's great to have company on my water fast! I am only squeezing the juice out of a lemon for my water because I heard it detoxifies the liver very rapidly, and you can do it on a fast.
Also, the lemon gives a bit of apetite control and gives me enough energy to go for a bike ride in the neiborhood.
I think it still counts as being on a water fast and maybe even helps detox better!
I fast completely differently than you Soose, I always have to be cooking and around food. I watch the Food Chanel and always cook my family really good food. I even go grocery shopping, I don't know why but, it helps me stay on my fast.
Day 2~ I have energy, no food cravings, about to go to the grocery store to make raw chocolate (sorry for the mention) Although I am not going to eat it until well after my fast.
This time I'm confident that I will succeed in my fast! :)

We're still with you here, Lily (and I hope Nadien today). Hanging in here. My goal is to get rehydrated.
Lily, in the past I've been able to be around foods and cooking while water fasting but it's been a mistake for me to do that when trying to fast here at home. So this time I am so glad I cleaned out the kitchen. If there was food around, this time I am sure I would have eaten it without thinking, other than "just one bite" and that would have been the end of the attempted fast.
Sunbathed some with a book, very pleasant today. Moving in and out of the sun like a lazy dog. :) I'm thankful I can relax and don't have a lot of demands on me.

Thats great Soose, then it's the perfect time to fast for you! :)
It's already in the Middle of Day 2 and I already see results! My stubborn acne is drying up and flaking off!! I'm so glad for this, I can't wait to see what my face looks like on day 4. This is just inspiring me to keep going and not give up the fast. :D
I also just recieved in the mail MSM cream from David Wolfe's website. It's making my skin super soft and I heard from a lot of people it got rid of their scars. So far, it made my skin really soft and smoothe. And it smells amazing!!

End of day two. Still here. Not rehydrated yet.
Lilly, so glad you're having good results already. :)

Day 3 -- a little easier so far. How's it going Lilly, Nadien?
[Edited -- didn't stop to think that sharing the little whines in my head that are normal at this stage might be discouraging to others. Sorry! ]
We are persevering. Hope it gets easier after today. My first goal is rehydration. I would say it's been a LOT easier to drink all the water we need. :) Gradually, at first unnoticeably, we had unintentionally cut down on water. But then, it became noticeable and it seemed to get harder and harder to drink healthy amounts as time passed. It was interesting to watch my capacity dwindle, but also dismaying to see signs of inflammation increase! Plus, we'd be eating when we knew we were supposed to be drinking -- responding to thirst as though it was hunger. A spiral of dehydration. I know this is what my body needs so that feels good!
Hmm, our main problem is, surprisingly, boredom! I'd cleared off the calendars. Ha, now we're wondering what to do with ourselves. rofl

I noticed that too! It gets very boring on a fast. But, I invited my friend over for entertainment and I completely forgot I was fasting. I was just enjoying being with my friend watching the Laker game, and it helped me stay on my fast!
However, I broke my fast last night because I looked in the mirror and my face looked so good. Like a baby's skin! So I was like, why am I fasting?
Although, I did have minor breakouts but, I decided to just eat fruit and drink TONS of water everyday, even when I'm not thirsty so my system detoxifies faster.
I was surprised at how quickly I saw results, maybe it was my new MSM cream that helped too but, my skin looks so fresh now and I'm glad I fasted 2 days. I'm so happy at my results!
Hope your still hanging in there Soose!

Day four, persevering.
I have two old injuries, ankle and knee. The ankle has been swelling, one way I knew I was dehydrated. The knee also seems sensitive to hydration, getting painful on stairs if I'm dehydrated. (Both ways I knew I was really going down the wrong path.)
My ankle swelling has gone down to almost normal. And a lot of the knee pain gone (but not fully).
We think we've been through the hard part and we'll soon be at the point we'll start seeing very good results. So much as I'd like to transition to a juice or smoothie fast, we're not giving up now. It's unusual to have a clear calendar and a clear kitchen.

if our souls eternal , and our bodies keep wearing out / dying body after body after body until we master the physical laws of the universe obviously properly fueling the existance of ones cells / body shall be a very important part of attaining an eternal body . to that end i see fasting as a VERY IMPORTANT DISCIPLINE in attaining an eternal body state as the greater control you have over exactly what you eat the greater control you have over the state of your body , to attain / maintain an eternal body state we are gonna have to learn how to eat PERFECT OR NEAR IT
eating aint a game , its very serious business .
and fasting greatly helps in that aspect of surviving and thriving
so when i fast im happy once i get underway because im working
on a very important aspect of my evolution into an eternal body state
