Hey dear rawists!

my name is Junebug and im from germany. i try to be raw for about 2 month now, but still end up with some little bread or pasta in the evenig after staying raw the whole day. so you could say i'm a 90% raw :D i am a vegan for 1.5 years now, and my boyfriend is vegan, too. besides my problems i have not eating grain, unfortunately my rawism also puts pressure on our relationship. i hope to maybe find rawists facing related problems in their relationship, to be able to talk about this difficulties.

how did i come to try raw food? as mentioned, im a vegan, and thus, soon i met some raw vegans in the internet. luckily i never had severe health problems, and im not overweight. Still i hope to improof my health and fitness, build up some muscels (im slim, but still somewhat flubby), and to cure my constantly running nose (i dont have allergies) and pale-reddish skin.

I hope my english is not to much horrible for you to read ;)

Welcome!

I would suggest looking up some raw bread recipies. The onion one is my favorite! There are also a ton of other recipes for bread, pizza crust etc that might help you with your bread transgressions.

As for the relationship, I'm not sure. My wife is raw as well so I can't comment on it. I would think it would be harder to maintain with a partner who isn't raw, but how does it put pressure?

Hi Maintime,

thankyou for your nice welcome :-)

yes i already did some raw bread (from sprouted wheat) and pizza crust, but still... :( I mostly miss this crunchy thing about bread and chips. I tried crackers from flax seeds, and i like them a lot!

oh i'm not sure about the phrase "to put pressure on sth". i meant, this topic is quite... complicated, maybe this is the right word? i'm very interested, talking about detox and so on, and he is just irritated about nutrition in general. as i don't know any raw person, i have no one to talk to, and i think i really annoy my boyfriend with this topic. but hey - that's why i registered to this forum :)

Well, I would be the first to tell you that detox can work wonders on a relationship. I become a big roaring baby when I don't feel good and if my wife didn't know I was going through detox she would have surely strangled me to death. Hopefully your partner will want to experience it with you, but if they don't, there is no need to have pressure over it.

I always felt of raw foods as an adventure. Like any other hobby or sport, it takes time, effort and practice to do it well. Experimentation with the grounding of tride and true raw recipes will go a long way for you. :)

Junebug -

Welcome to the forums! If I understand you correctly, it sounds like you're saying your boyfriend isn't really interested in talking about raw and eating the same way you are - which is frustrating for you? I know how that feels. None of my friends/family ever care about my attempts to get healthy and eat better. And they kinda thing I'm being "weird" trying not to eat cooked foods, even after I've explained why I'm doing it. Oy! I've decided there is nothing I can do to change them, and maybe by example and saying how great I feel eating raw I can convert them instead! ;) Then I munch some carrots and feel better.

You'll find lots of great people to talk to on the forums here at least - so welcome again and happy raw fooding!!

Hi, and welcome. :)

My fiance was very against my going vegetarian in January, always talks about getting the right nutrition and such (he believes I am underweight, and worries about it). I honestly haven't talked much to him about raw foods cuz I'm worried what he might say. People generally think my food habits are laughable or silly.
I'm also slim and "flubby" as you say. I have a hard time making myself exercise. I am very pale, and turn red easily, but since going raw my skin has improved a million times over, both with the redness and my acne - you can definitely expect an improvement in that when you eat raw foods. :)

You will find lots of support and people to talk to here, and hopefully we can help you a bit.

Your english is not too much horrible. ;) Better than my German!

Good luck with the change, it's a similar way I came to raw, having ben vegan before and meeting raw vegans. There are hepas of people here who have non raw and non veg partners who will be able to help you get through it. :)

Thankyou so much :)

I'm so glad that there are others that face similar problems. And yes, i was also considered weird long before! i had some eating disorder as a teenager, later on went vegan and now even raw. i seem to be a really strange person, according to my parents ;) Have you ever been suspected of hiding an eating disorder or other mental problems by being raw?

are there others from germany here? first i wanted to register to a german forum, but i think there is not much going on, so i choose this one.

actually, my boyfriend really is interested in nutrition things, healty and spiritual life and so on. but the way i talk about being raw, he says, makes him feel guilty and even resign. since i started talking about detox, he feels he is poisoning himself constantly - maybe because, in german, the words are more similar (poisoning: Vergiftung; detox: Entgiftung). he does not boycot my efforts, he even tries to eat more fresh fruits. but still he is kind of annoyed and doesn't want to talk about it.

anyway. soon i will visit my parents and vegan sister, and i plan to prepare raw candy balls and cookies for them. i have already served some raw fancy cake, and they liked it a lot :p (it was that raspberry chocolate cake by Ani Phyo)

i hope so much that the appearence of my skin will improve, but as i heard so from almost every rawist i met, i'm pretty sure it will

Ha, seems to work ^^ I ate raw the whole day. Thanks to pizza with guacamole and dried tomatoes, and also to date-balls with coco flakes.
