Pure Mama,
I'm new here too and your post was the first I came to so thought I would share that fasting is simply giving a your body a break from digesting foods. That is pretty general, so when you choose to fast you need to get specific about what you are giving your body a break from. It could be all foods, or just specific foods such as processed foods, cooked food, solid foods, etc.
Lot's of people turn to The Master Cleanser (here is a youtube video I found helpful (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFZ6NbQfhDk))for a fast. Here is a link to that cleanse/fast. I used to like doing this fast. Its pretty standard, you feel like you'll go crazy for food the first day or two, but by day 3 you feel great and you can tell your body is getting a break and doing some internal spring cleaning. HOWEVER, the last time I did the Master Cleanser I started seeing blood in my urine and quit immediately. Since that scary experience, I have only done juice fasts. These are much easier on the body and since I've found so many great juice recipes- it is diverse fast. I actually enjoy the process and it feels great.
One tip- be sure to wrap the fast in metal thoughts of abundance. Focus on the flavors you get to enjoy, on the vacation you are giving your system, and on the health you are creating in your body. WHen you fast with feelings of abundance instead of lack, the fast fells better- it seems like a gift to yourself instead of self inflicted denial.
To your good health,

Not necessarily true. One can fast from anything that gets in the way of the path they are wanting to follow. My current fast is a green smoothie fast, which still has to be digested.
One can fast from certain foods but continue others, which won't be named here, as some of us are fasting and don't want the temptations, one can fast from drinks. From activites. From the Internet. From TV. From certain moods or attitides.
