how often do you end up using each and why ?

i have a blender but i don't have a juicer. sometimes at night when my neighbors are sleeping i want to drink something but if i start using the blender i would have to expect the cops at my doorstep in no time. as far as i understand juicers are rather quiet.

frankly i am scared of juicers for 3 reasons:

1 - i don't think i will find the courage to throw out the pulp they produce and therefore probably will simply not use them

2 - i don't think i will find the dedication to clean them

3 - but worst of all I AM AFRAID THEY WILL MAKE ME GAIN WEIGHT AGAIN ! ! !

now at first it was smooth sailing - i was dropping pounds like flies. then as i started getting better at creating shakes and smoothies that taste decent i found myself at a point where i could conceivably GAIN WEIGHT while being raw and exercising regularly.

this is bad enough. now if i get a juicer it can only get much worse. and i still want to lose another 30 pounds.

what do you say ?

I have both. I mostly juice in the a.m. (unless I am on a juice fast) Use the blender for my mid day meal (gs).
I have raw food dogs so they get a lot of the pulp. Also my sister has chickens so they get a share too. There are a lot of recipies that call for pulp. Use the banana and see if there is anything you might like. As far as weight is concerned... I used to weigh 211lbs at 5' 5". The only time in my life that I have been able to maintain my weight has been on raw. I am not 100%, but I am high raw. I'd say about 98%. You do not have to be afraid of food. Food is your freind. Just be as raw as you find possible and you will be okay. Also, I feel that the things that you worry over the most are the things you tend to hang on to. Sending you positive energy. I hope that helps.

Why is that? It depends on the things you consume. If you juice or blend just raw greens, vegetables and fruits it is nearly immpossible to gain weight.
If you put a lot of nuts, seeds or avocados in you drinks, then you should be more carefull.

But nevertheless, your body need also fat. Me for example, if I make a juice out of carrots, apples, ginger and greens I also add small spoon of rawcoconutoil in the blender, that my body can absorb all the nutritions.

btw. I have both, a Breville blender and juicer, both are loud, so I juice or blend mostly between 7 a.m-9p.m in the rest of the time I drink water with squeezed lemon or I fix myself an orangejuice with a citrusjuicer, not this loud.

Please tell me, what fruits are you eating and what amount, because, if I use a calorycounter i get such results:

Bananas 1kg (2,2lb) = 950 kcal
Apples 1kg (2,2lb) = 520 kcal
Pineapple 1kg (2,2lb) = 590 kcal
Grapes 1kg (2,2lb) = 710 kcal

Not that this is an example of my or anyones daily food, just to compare how much you have to eat to get alot of calories.

Are you eating this much or are you drinking 1 gallon of such juices?

It is not, that I do not believe you, but I haven't expirienced something like this and I'm eating a HUGE bunch of fruits.

I have both, but never use the juicer anymore!

Here's why: I put everything in the blender and liquify it then pour it through a nut milk bag and literally "milk" the bag. There is so much less waste that way and as far as juicing GREENS, there is no better way!

I have both as well, the juicer has been sitting unused since I got my Vitamix a few months ago..I detest cleaning it, even though I love making juice in the am...

I bought a Blendtec blender in January and it is my best kitchen friend. I use it every day. However, I am seriously considering getting an Omega 8006 juicer as well. I plan to use it to make nut butters and banana whips (like ice cream). There are some great You Tube demonstrations on how to do all of this. I will probably use it for some juicing, but I mainly use the whole juice setting on my Blendtec and get juices with the fiber that way.

It depends mostly of which time of the year it is. I juice a lot more in the winter and make more green smoothies in the summer.

For me cleaning the juicer isn't much of a problem because I have a trick that works very well. I NEVER allow myself to drink the juice before I've cleaned the juicer. That way I'm really motivated to clean it and it's always ready to use.

I don't recommend juicing lots of high glycemic fruit though. I juice mostly veggies and greens. Sometimes I mix in some apples for sweetness.

Blending sure is easier. But I've personally experienced more health benefits with juicing.
