So, I just ate this. It was ridiculously good.

Can I seriously eat stuff like this (cashew base, w/coconut, honey, agave, dates etc) and still lose weight and feel healthy???

How many desserts like this do you eat a week? Could I over do it? It seems impossible to eat such amazing yummy food all day and desserts and still lose weight and be healthy.

Am I trippin' or what?

Yes it is possible!! This looks delish. You can eat what you like. Don't worry about weight. Worry tends to keep things around that you want to get rid of.

I LOVE raw desserts! Your cupcake looks scrumptious. :D

Is it possible to feel healthy eating like this? YES!!! Is it possible to still lose weight? Initially, YES! In the long run, maybe not.

I eat whatever I want, including desserts. I usually make something special that I will eat 2-3 times in a week, freeze a piece, and share the rest.

My experience with releasing weight... 50 pounds in the first 6 month. I call that my toxic weight. In the past 18 months, I have seen the scale flucuate, but not drop permanently. Truth be told, I gained 8 pounds eating raw this winter.

Eat whatever you want during transition to raw. That doesn't mean you can eat anything you want as long as it is raw forever. (That is very loosely quoted from an older post by Alissa.)

That looks and sounds amazingly delicious. Please share the recipe!!!

And I think the rule that too much of anything is bad holds true even with raw foods. Sure, carrots are great for you! But if all you ate all the time is carrots you'd get sick. The more fatty nutty dessert type stuff is certainly better than SAD desserts, but considering their nutritional stats, they're probably not something you should eat a lot of. Plus, keeping desserts a treat will make them taste even better!!

the good thing is that the longer you are raw the less you will want to eat heavy foods so it works itself out

AGREED!!!!!

The first 9months or so I wanted nuts alot, then after that all my cravings for like desserts & nuts faded. I'm about month 15 & I eat pretty simple.

Yum...recipe please?

hehe, okay I'll share the recipe, its a pretty rough estimate as I didn't really measure, and I took ideas from a few different recipes...

Enjoy :) It was delicious!!

1 cup of cashews finely ground (I soaked for about two hours first)
1/4 cup "date paste" (a few dates processed in the food processor)
about 3/4 cups raw coconut powder (I processed some raw coconut shreds that I had)
little bit of agave nectar, to taste...
1/2 tsp. vanilla or so
dash of sea salt

I prepared each item separately and then hand mixed in a bowl with the agave, vanilla and salt

For the icing I first threw some raw coconut shreds with water in the blender (to make coconut milk, about 1 part coconut to 3 parts water) then I added about 3/4 cups of cashews, honey to taste, dash of salt and some vanilla extract, and a little squeeze of lemon, blend until you get a nice "whip cream" texture ..... It can be sweeter the more honey you add. YUM!!

I put them in the freezer for a minute to set, probably would be nice to put them in the fridge for some time, but I was too anxious to eat, lol. The strawberry on top was seriously so good.

Yummy! Looks soo good. I have found I need to eat raw desserts in order to not feel deprived. But, I have also noticed as time goes on I am starting to really enjoy the savory raw food as well. I think our tastes change the longer we are raw and we find our body craving less sweet. I would not worry about it unless you see the scale not budging. Then, I would cut back some. But, my body seems able to eat raw desserts without negative impact on weight loss yet.:)

I agree with some of the previous posts. Eat pretty much whatever makes you satisfied during the transition period. The eventually you will most likely lose the taste for those heavy foods and naturally go for the simple things like salads, fruit and green smoothies.

You might want to reconsider using agave though. It's not a healthy food, and even some resellers (like the fresh network) have finally started to remove it from their shops.

I've been hearing a lot about sugar. Sugar this. Sugar that. And it may keep you fat. I don't know. If you're serious about losing weight, look into the "Bitter Truth about Sugar" on youtube and find other sources to draw a conclusion.

If you are new to raw you will definitely find that eating raw desserts, no matter how "heavy" they are, will help you lose weight. They will also keep you from feeling deprived because you can eat such wonderful tasting desserts without the guilt! After you have been raw for a while you may want to eat things that are more simple, or that use better food combinations. Either way, just listen to your body and be reasonable with how much of it you eat. As long as you spend most of your day eating lots of greens and a variety of other raw foods you will be fine, so enjoy! :)

I agree with LiveLife, if it's keeping you raw and not feeling like you're depriving yourself, then don't worry about it too much. As long as you're not having desserts for every meal, don't worry. ;) Sometimes I'll even have a half a pound of dates in one day :o when my sweet tooth really hits, and while it's not the greatest idea, it has yet to cause any weight gain.
