Hi I'm new here. I am kind of thinking of ways to make a high raw diet easier for me. It seems kind of hard since the society isn't too raw vegan friendly, or even vegan friendly.

Anyways, that's besides the point. Do any of you take with you a cooler to work to keep your raw meals if there are no refrigerators and you need some things to keep cool (ie to prevent spoilage)?

Also, would any of you know any websites to find EASY and SIMPLE BASIC recipes for a busy person like me who goes to school and work and does other stuff? Preferrably high in protein too because I do weight lifting and kung fu.

Sigh, damn industrial society is bad for health. Anyways.. I'm still living with my father and trying to begin a life on my own, though to begin has been a hassle because of my diet, health issues and other 'alternative and unconventional thinking processes'.

On the run I just take fruits and veggies uncut, like apple, banana, oranges, turnip cabbage, celery (if I would eat it), and so on. And nuts and dried fruits.

Not ALL at the same time. :D

At home, I do create dishes. There I have the time and the joy to celebrate it.

I do not take it to work, because after you cut the stuff it starts to oxydize and I want it as fresh as possible.

But this is only MY way of handling it.

Saludos,

Marcel

I always carry a cooler tote with me when I'm out. I have insulated jars if I just want to bring soup or a smoothie alone. In my trunk, I keep a larger cooler bag which has been very handy for grocery trips.

You can also bring bars and other dehydrated foods that don't need constant cooling.

There's many simple recipes on here and other websites. Eventually you'll become good at creating your own.

I generally just bring whole pieces of fruit like an orange or a banana, something I can stick in my bag. When I work in the mornings I whip up a green smoothie right before I leave, stick it in a jar and sip on it over the next few hours.

We take coolers all the time. We have a variety of them to fit different situations.

We even pack along a small cooler on long motorcycle trips where I'm able to stay raw the whole time. It just takes a bit of planning and it's quite doable!

Good for you adapting with a cooler to make this work for you! *Ü*

you can also find "cooler" tupperware. Its basically a piece of tupperware that has that freeze gel in the lid. You freeze the lid... put in your veggies, put the lid on and BAM! cold veg. It's pretty nifty.

I have something like this--Fit n Fresh
It has a snap-out ice pack that you can stick in the freezer. loooove it!

YEAH, THAT :)

I have an insulated lunch bag (bought at Target) that I take to work with one of those blue freezer ice packs in it, I make salads and either olive oil, or guacamole (squeeze some lemon juice into it when you make it to keep it from turning brown, I keep it in a seperate container from the salad too until ready to eat), or salsa on it. Just starting to experiment w/ making my own salad dressings too for it, but nothing that I *love* yet.
And lots of fresh fruit - whole apples, oranges, bag of grapes (take them off the stem and they don't take up much room and are easy to eat on the go). Sometimes make a fruit salad (again, lemon juice to keep it from turning brown). Sometimes carrot sticks/slices, celery sticks, cut cucumbers, or snap peas if I want something crunchy instead. Maybe a handful of nuts but not too often (just by personal preference not any real reason).

I think green smoothies are my biggest source of protein, but I make those for breakfast (and make two-three days ahead and keep in the fridge. Not AS nutritious as the second they are made, but better than the pop-tart or McD's I'd grab if I didn't have them made up ahead of time). I don't bring them with me to work because I just don't feel like dealing w/ questions & comments about "weird" food. (which is also why I like salads for lunch...no one bats an eye at that).

Then if you want to experiment with more recipes when you're home & have more time. Plus more other foods to grab if you don't like the recipe you've made.

I like portable coolers to keep my food cool. I recommend Jennifer Cornbleets bok
Raw food made Easy for One or Two People. Tasty and easy recipes. They also keep well for work.:)
