I really want to fast for 7 days! And drink nothing but water, does anyone on here want to join me?
I tried getting my mom and brother to do it with me but, they can't do it!!
I will continue to post my daily results/experience on this thread :)
Hopefully the detox breakouts go away as well as the detox rashes etc. I'll post everything that occured on here!

hey, I broke my recent water fast today, but... I was just being silly and thinking I wanted something when I actually didn't.

SO... tomorrow I'm jumping back on the wagon.

I'll be water fasting with you starting tomorrow. and will post daily with you on this thread... BUT I suggest you hop over to the FASTING thread already started by Aleesha as well as this one if you want more fasting friends, however, there is a lot of juice talk over there.

Ps. i used to try and get my family to do this stuff with me and they've never once said yes, which is unfortunate for them, because it can really bring you to a better place.

k, that's all

nadien.

Great! I'm glad someones fasting with me. I'm also going to start tommorow & thanks! I'll look for that thread right now..
The longest I have gone on a fast was for 1 day, and ate just because I was bored, I'm hopeful I won't make the same mistake.

wow you've only done a one day fast and you are going for 7? that's very brave of ya. remember... it's super important to break a water fast G E N T L Y!!!

switching to juice, then to really soft fruits... then to watered down green smoothies... take it slow...

all the best!!!

personally i prefer to do a water fast at the beginning or during a juice fast... cause breaking a water fast is so hard to do correctly... i need to hide it inside another fast LOL

i'm thinking of doing a few more days on water though... so i'll be joining you at some point! (((hugs)))

Aleesha, RH, thanks for the helpful pointers. Even though I've water fasted quite a few times (never more than 2 weeks), I'm still learning! (and making mistakes).

I have never done a water fast as long as you RH.

I did not know about the 4/1 ratio with water to juice.

I never come out of my fasts properly. Always too quick.

RH, how are you feeling this far into your fast?
How is your energy?
do you do much activity throughout the day?

Oh I'm so excited to be back on water.
I made such a mistake today eating something.. It was such an conscious move. and by that I mean, It was a surface emotion. a reflex. instant gratification.

And because I was drinking water for so many days before, my body got so mad at me, and my tummy has been in fits ever since.

Lilly, I know we'll both have the willpower to complete this fast. :)

Hey there Nadien...I deleted my post, but glad you were able to glean information from it. The first couple of short water fasts that I did, I had trouble ending them also. However, this time because of the duration, I'm not messing around with this. I have a 2 week post fast plan...first few days of juicing, them consuming fermented foods, sauerkraut, kombucha, laxative fruits (cherries, prunes etc), complimented with daily wheatgrass shots, green smoothies...with spirulina, chlorella etc. I'm also going to focus on not eating that much, but ensuring I get the highest nutrition possible with the least amount of food initially. Then I'll transition into solid foods. I'm really listening to my body and don't want to shock my digestive system too much. Plus with the short fasts, breaking it with gourmet raw because I could eat again with everything smelling so DELICIOUS & INTOXICATING gave me terrible gas and I don't want to even think about what would happen coming off of an extended water fast. lol!

With any water fast, you want to rest as much as possible. Today on day 17, I'm feeling nauseous, but from research that just means extreme housecleaning / releasing toxemia / malformed bile into the stomach & intestines. I'm hanging in there. I purposely made sure I could do this when I didn't have too many obligations or social events, activity. I've told only a handful of friends what I'm doing.

It's a journey my dear...just take it one day at a time and listen to your body and intuition.

Sending you waves of inspiration....

One more thing, if you're super busy....you might consider juice fasting during the week and water fasting on the weekend. I say this because water fasting is a true fast where your body is converting glycogen. Juice fasting helps you maintain more sustained energy. Water fasting can be rough on your system if you're overly active and somewhat defeats the purpose of allowing the body to rid itself of dead tissue, toxins if it's focusing rather on giving you fuel. Know what I mean? Just something to think about. Best wishes.

RawHeaven, thanks so much for all the advice.

I'm very concerned with my post-fast regime and want to make sure I do it properly.
I'm listening to everything you have to say and making notes!
I am hoping that I can withstand an extended water fast of over 20 days (as I have read that one needs this long to truely get to the heart of cleansing), but I will take it one day at a time.

yesterday, when I chose to eat, I had such terrible indigestion. So... mistake made, won't do it again.

Anyway,
I'm having a really nice day today. Got my hair cut short again. I am slowly feeling more like myself.
Feeling incredibly thristy today, So I'm chugging water back like nothing else.
Will spend the rest of the day reading outside in the sun.

I heard that it's not good to drink too much water because you could overdoseon it easily if you are on a water fast, so I'm trying not to overdue the water.

Day 1~
I'm feeling very relaxed and not hungry. Just bought a bunch of fresh groceries to break my fast with in 7 days! (But I will take Aleesha's advice to start off slow).
I'm also studying a lot, I'm not sure if it's bad or good but, I hope fasting will help me become more focused.
I can't wait to see what I feel like on the fifth day! It's exciting doing a 7 day water fast for the first time.

night 3 or so prob wont be able to sleep long ,
which'll continue for several days in my experience

which got me down initially because because i layed
awake in bed fretting over being tired at work next day .
but then i learned to get up and do chores or whatever
to make use of the need for less sleep

hi MR... (((hugs))) love ya!!!

it takes a LOT of water to cause any damage... a LOT of water... so you don't have to limit yourself. doubtful that you'd be able to drink enough to harm yourself.

The kidneys of a healthy adult can process fifteen liters of water a day! You are unlikely to suffer from water intoxication, even if you drink a lot of water, as long as you drink over time as opposed to intaking an enormous volume at one time.

hey lilly,

I'm impressed that you could go grocery shopping and not feel the least bit inclined to eat anything.

With that kind of will power, I'm sure you'll do just fine on this water fast.

Today I do not feel hungry either.

Just received some bad news, so that's got me down and a bit on edge, so I think i might go for a walk to cool off.

Yes, like Michigan Roman I didn't sleep much the first few days. I read or cleaned up. The other day a wave of clearing clutter energy hit me and I cleaned the entire house. I'm sure it was my physical world mirroring my inner world's cleanup. :)

Today is day 18...i can believe i made it this far (trying to change that famous saying around). In the homestretch. I've been laying low the past 4 days, nausea hit me pretty hard and I just felt like sleeping and resting. I know it was detox and honestly I've never experienced it that bad before, even when I started eating raw foods. So I know I'm doing some really deep cleansing. It was not comfortable going through it, but I know that it's benefiting me. I feel better today....made myself get up, went for a walk, went to the food co-op to pick up some produce for juicing when I break my fast. Everything in the produce section looked like candy. Just delightfully delicious. It is amazing how you can be detached and yet appreciate the food as fuel....the beauty of water fasting is you really get a handle on & observe your eating habits objectively.....i.e. emotional eating, eating when bored, simple carb addictions etc.

I broke my fast last night, I couldn't take it, it was as if my brain was yelling at me to eat, then I ate evrything in my fridge. I am so dissapointed I couldn't finish the fast!! It was probably because of all the studying I had to do and couldn't concentrate :(

Does anyone know if juice fasting is the same as eating just fruit or is there a difference of putting liquid into your body rather than whole fruit?

I'm thinking about doing that instead if it will make the detox symptoms of raw go away faster.

Other than that, I have been exercising A LOT, I love sweating :)

no , whole fruit isnt as cleansing as juice

but its a step towards eating better / properly thusly progress

and its gonna take a fasting habit of years and years for best
health and or dietary control so i dont bum out when i stop
short in a fast as any length fast is a good fast

i like lemon squeezed in water on a fast as its cleansing
and appetite supressing

any length fast is a good fast

Totally agree!

Don't be dissappointed. You did good. My first water fast was 3 days and I did the same thing, only I broke it with a veggie burger, fries and sushi which was not such a wise thing to do. :) This was pre-raw food days. It takes some time to develop a rhythm and it really does help to prepare in advance by drinking green juices, making sure your calendar is clear, taking it easy, setting a defined goal. Another thing I have to do is EMPTY my fridge and cupboards. Perhaps one day I will be able to fast with food in the house, but I'm not there yet. hahaa. So I can totally relate. Today I went shopping as I mentioned above and bought my juicing produce and a large supply of raw nuts to make raw foods when I'm done with that. Buying the nuts was not a good idea because I keep opening my pantry to stare at them. Sigh. Only three days to go and I will hang on! Now I know my limits and I will not tempt myself like that again.

Yes, a big difference. If you eat it helps your metabolism - the chewing, digesting, everything. Fasting slows it down.

I would recommend going all live for a week instead of fasting. :) therawdivas.com have a great free program for it.

Sweating is great! It will help rid you of all those toxins and speed up the process of cleansing your entire body. :)

Lilly, don't stress out about breaking your fast.

Just get back on track. If that means you're going to eat fruit this week, do so.
However, eating fruit and drinking fruit juice are two different things. One lets your digestive system sleep, the other keeps it awake.

Both will provide you with some detox, but juice will ultimately provide you with more.

It might be easier to manage your fasting goals if you switch to a juice fast.
A lot of people struggle with just water.
I am struggling.

well good luck!

I'm still drinking water today, I'm excited for this week. Warm weather means lots of bike rides, which will help me keep my mind off food and more on healing and feeling good.

I'm really tired right now, but I can not sleep. didn't sleep well last night either. this sleeplessness has put me in a bit of a haze but I'm going to push on... :)
