Hi all! I slipped away from this place for a little while :( but I'm baaack! ;)
I just came home after a very long weekend away, during which I was forced, by circumstance, into eating 100% raw! I was staying in a beautiful but tiny town, whose one tiny supermarket had never even met a whole foods diet! Their tiny produce section had the only stuff that looked remotely like real food: raw fruits and veggies! So, because there were no 'healthy' cooked options to go for, I ate 100% raw without even thinking about it! I suppose I could've steamed some veggies, but I didn't, partly due to laziness, partly because I figured this would be a good opportunity to see if going 100% would work for me right now. Unfortunately, the quality of the food wasn't always great, and I didn't have a blender or a food processor, so I was eating even more simply than I felt ready for, but on the whole, it felt pretty good.
The 100% rawness lasted the 4 days I was away. Now, when I got home last night, all jet-lagged and exhausted and craving something a bit more dense than fruit or plain salads, I made a BIG salad for dinner and added some black beans and cooked corn to it. It was a conscious decision and I'm not about to beat myself up for it, but right after eating it, I suddenly felt terrible! I felt too full and came over all feverish. Weird result, after only 4 days without any cooked food, but whatever, I'm taking it as a sign. Today I'm back on 100%, with the wonderful addition of green smoothies and slightly heavier salad dressings, and some raw chocolate that I am assured is truly 100% raw. It doesn't feel as though this will definitely be my never-look-back point, but I do feel like I've had a breakthrough in discovering that I can do 100% and that it makes me feel great and is definitely worth sticking with for as long as that's true ;) Just wanted to share the beginnings of my success with you lovely people :)
