Hi everyone,
My name is Lynn and I'm very new to the raw food lifestyle. I took a class here in PA with Toby Landon, where I learned about Alissa's book and tried out some recipes. The class was held at my chiropractor's office, where I recently had a nutritional analysis done.
I've had digestive and skin problems my entire life. I've been to more doctors than I can count, had a ridiculous number of medical tests performed, and been told that everything is "normal." In February, my abdomen became so distended that my students' parents believed I was pregnant. Again, I had countless tests done, saw numerous specialists, and all they could tell me was that I didn't have cancer. Meanwhile, random people are asking me when I'm due.
My chiropractors (a wonderful husband and wife team) suggested some supplements and "lifestyle changes," which included eliminating dairy, wheat, caffeine, and sugar. After panicking and wondering what in the world I was going to eat, I started thinking about the Raw Food class. I began eating mostly raw, but fell off the wagon last week; it was Teacher Appreciation Week and I was being bombarded with treats from well-meaning parents. By the end of the week, my abdomen was distended again and my skin is SO red and itchy all over! I'm back to RAW as of today, and hoping to stay that way as far as possible!
