Hi all!!

First of all, I'm sooo happy to be here!! I have been interested in raw food lifestyle since 2008, after reading about it in Steve Pavlina's blog. Back then I didn't have the healthiest lifestyle - I ate relatively healthy for days, even weeks, then I would start eating junk food for days, weeks and then healthy again. It was a cycle that weakened me physically and emotionally. I felt immensely guilty and I remember promising myself that I will go from a eat meater to a raw foodist gradually.

So after two years of a slow transition here I am, fully vegan and wheat free. I have been eating high raw since mid March and feeling fantastic! I never thought I could feel that good about myself simply by eating living foods!! I want to challenge myself and go 100% raw in the next few days, and since it's hard to be a raw foodist in a cooked world, I would very much appreciate the support of my fellow foodists here. :)

Also, I have a 6 month old kitten and she's going raw with me. Actually she's my only physical raw friend, just realized. Will have a look at the raising raw pets section but I would be really grateful if raw cat owners can contact me!

Peace to all, have a wonderful day!!

Welcome Ekin! Good for you...lotsa raw pals here!

since it's hard to be a raw foodist in a cooked world,

It is only hard if you say it is. In actuality, it is so easy!

Congratulations Ekin! Welcome to the forum! Is your sweet cat friend a raw carnivore? I have been reading up on raw foods for cats. I have one that is an indoor/outdoor cat and two that are feral, although one of them lets me pet him occasionally. I trapped them and took them to Feral Cat Coalition and had them neutered/spayed (1 male & 1 female) and then watched out for them. I continue to watch out for them and about 2 months ago the male had a serious limp going on. Amazingly, he let me feel his leg (all this goes on while he is outside a window on a counter and I am inside the window, otherwise he won't let me get within 4 feet of him). It seemed to be his shoulder that was messed up and I didn't know what to do. I went to a local mom & pop owned pet food store and bought raw food for him and kept feeding him that for as long as finances allowed. It really made a difference and he has no limp now. Of course, ALL 3 of the cats ate the raw food and they all loved it. There seems to be a lot to making sure the raw food is balanced right for cats. I bought Halshan's ground whole chicken with veggies. I really don't want to get into making it myself even though that would be loads less expensive. Anyway, my experience is that an appropriate raw diet does for cats what it does humans. That same brand and type of raw cat food saved and extended the life of my bestest cat friend ever. She moved on when she was 20 years old, which is a very old age for an indoor/outdoor cat. Best cat I ever met.

Somelikeitraw, thanks! Wow, I'm so happy that your feral cat friend's shoulder is OK now. Yes my cat is a raw carnivore in transition though she would still prefer the kibble if I offered her. It really shows how addictive the kibble is! I can't afford the ready raw food so I'm learning how to make it on my own. Also she won't eat if I give her fully raw so I'm par boiling until she gets used it. It's taking me a lot of time to do everything but I guess I'll get used to it. Reaching 20 is really extraordinary for an indoor cat!! I'm sorry that she's gone but I'm sure she made u really happy for long long years. Thanks for ur advice again. :)
