Hi all!
I am doing a Raw Food presentation in nursing school. As you can guess, most nurses advocate the pyrimid diet so I would like to make bite-size somethings (for about 60 people) to introduce them to Raw Food. I have a recipe for vegan cupcakes, but I wanted to take it a step further. I'm guessing chocolate would go over well. Any ideas are appreciated!

I find the most simple recipes people are most impressed with! Take Alissa's Date Nut Torte...four ingredients, SO simple to make and tastes like you've been slaving over the counter all day! Also, when people see the Banana Icecream they go CRAZY cuz it's AMAZING what you can do with a Banana!!! Try those! They're always a hit for me! :)

Is it possible to make a lot of ice cream at once?

Yes. Just prepare ahead by freezing alot of bananas. :D
Sweet Potato Fries (rawmazing.com) are crowd-pleasers...
Alissa's Un-Potato Salad (made with jicama) got a standing ovation at a non-raw party I attended...
I second the vote for Alissa's Date Nut Torte - DELICIOUS, EASY to prepare... and you can make 3-4 Tortes and serve small slices because it's so rich, most folks won't eat too much anyway. :D

Well....yes... The more Bananas you use, the more Icecream you will have. Alternatively you could make Raw Gelato, which is FABULOUS!!! But, you have to have an icecream maker for that... SOOO worth getting, though!!! :)
HEY TWIN!!! We were posting at the same time!!! :D
Hi Mom2Cats ~ My grandkiddies love dehydrated banana chips and they love to help make them too. I don't know how they'd work for a demo...but they'd be fun for the kids to try :) Just last night my granddaughter asked for Mango-banana pudding. I take 1 mango and 1 banana and process in the food processor. They love that. It's great to use one of the fruits frozen too - then it's icy cold, they love it.
HI Renee ~ Just a wee threadjack here, but I have a question. The lettuce salad with the little brocolli pieces you made on your TV appearance last week - is that a recipe in Alissa's book? I looked and didn't see it, but I wanted to ask. Thanks! *Ü*

Hi Deb!
Yea, it's the Broccoli Salad from Alissa's Calzone + a Carrot....:) My addition!
Hey Mom2cats...This is a WONDERFUL recipe!!! Everyone is always surprised at how soft the Broccoili is even though it's NOT sauted!!! Try that one too!!!

Nori wraps, cuccumber water and Raw Priestess Brownies for desert.
With big newbie crowds I think something they can easily duplicate, without a lot of tools, is always a winner. Especially if the stuff is savory.

Thank you so much Renee!! I don't think I would have found that (within another recipe), so thank you for sharing that! *Ü*

I found a recipe here for donut holes! YUM! The rawked and everyone loved them! They were great warm out of the dehydrator, but tasted just as awesome room temp so no worries! Just do a search on this site and you'll be able to find it! I used coconut in mine and they were extremely impressive and delectable!
Now I've gotta try this torte that ya'all are talking about! :D

Hi Renee ~ I'm missing something. I'm looking at Alissa's Calzone recipe (pgs 390-3920, but I'm not seeing a salad.. I see marinated veggies on 391 - that has broccoli in it. Can you help me out? Thanks so much Renee! *Ü*

Is this the donut hole recipe you made?
SuzyQ's Donut Holes
3 Cups shredded Coconut
1 C soaked dates (just enough water to cover dates; use the soak water in the recipe)
3 Tablespoons Almond Butter
2 Tablespoons Maple Syrup
2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil
2 tsp Vanilla
Pinch of Sea Salt
Mix in food processor. Use about 1 1/2 Tablespoons per donut hole. I dehydrate for about 4-6 hours or so and test. Dehydrate longer if desired.

Hey Deb!
Yea, that's the one! Sorry! I thought she had labeled at as "Salad"...:p
Anyway, I just took that Marinated Veggie recipe and added a Carrot and called it "A Day"!!!! :D
Also, Alissa's Spinach dip is in a couple of places in her book, too...

Of all the raw dishes I have made for non raw folk there is only one that was always been a hit- the chocolate mousse. The recipe I used was from Raw Food Made Easy by Jennifer Cornbleet. It is made with avocados as a base and they are potent!! If you can't find it e mail me and I will get it to you.

Hi Marin Mom ~ Have you ever made this using carob? If so - how did it taste? I've only made it using cocoa (trying to use up what I have here), but wondered about carob... *Ü*

Thanks Renee ~ It sure looked like the salad you served had a creamy dressing..? Alissa's is simply oil. But you mentioned Alissa's Spinach Dip - do you combine the dip and the marinated veggies (+ carrot)? Because it looked like your salad had lettuce (spinach?) in it. Maybe I'm not remembering it correctly though.
I appreciate all your help with this - I'd just like to make that salad you served up, it looked SO good! I'm literally salivating remembering it!! (no joke) *Ü*
I made Banana Ice Cream in a Champion Juicer in front of my Special Ed class. They loved it. Also;), the assistant teacher enjoyed it. This was three years ago. They still talk about it.

Sorry, only used the raw cocoa. If I were trying to impress non raw crowd I would play it safe and stick to that. But I might be willing to try carob for myself.:D

Thanks Marin Mom ~ I agree with you - I'd hold off on the carob until trying it out myself, heehee! Thanks for your reply. *Ü*
