Hi All!

My name is Shaun and I'm a 47 year old female from Ontario, Canada.

I've just started eating raw after a friend told me about Timothy Brantley's book "The Cure". I really enjoyed the book and I hope to one day be on a fully raw diet. So far I'm doing fairly well....I have a fruit smoothie in the morning, a salad for lunch and usually veggies for dinner. I'm kind of addicted to hummus :) I've been sprouting too!! Lentils, mung beans, radish sprouts, chick peas, green peas, etc. I enjoy these in my salads or just munch on them alone. I'm also really enjoying fresh coconut water and coconut meat in my smoothies.

In the past I was anorexic and bulimic (sp?), although I still have those tendencies in my way of thinking. I have to catch myself if I start loosing weight because I get really excited about it and then become a bit extreme.
I'm overweight by about 50 lbs right now because I'm very cautious about loosing weight. My goal is to feel great!

I've got 2 dogs on raw and a wonderful horse I ride.

I'm slowly getting my husband to eat raw as he has cancer and needs to make some changes. It's a bit of a struggle though.

I'm also a chef by trade so food has been a big part of my life for a long time - I'm looking forward to trying new ways of putting ingredients together! Right now I have my own business..........Chocolate. Yes, I said chocolate:eek: Now there's a challenge!!!!

I look forward to learning all about raw!

Hi Poptart! Welcome to Alissa's forum!
Alissa's book, Living on Live Food, could be quite helpful to you. It may seem expensive, but it is worth every penny. She also has DVD's that many people have said are helpful.
This forum has been a great help to me. Top of the page under the banana, is a search feature so you can find things in the archives with ease.
I think it would be fantastic if you could come up with some out-of-this-world raw chocolate creations. I gave up chocolate, even raw chocolate, but others here still go for it.
Anyway, glad you're here!

hi, hi, hi.

I'm from Barrie Ontario.

I'm struggling with my dad right now who has cancer. I'm hoping he'll liken to raw a bit more everyday.

I also understand your bulimic/anorexic tendencies. I've had similar problems in my not so distant past. But let me say that with raw food, there is no guilt attached and no reason to purge any of the goodness of fruits and veggies.

Good luck with your husband, and welcome to this great little online community.

ps. i love chocolate, and WOW, I could not have a chocolate business and be raw. Unless is was RAW chocolate of course, and then I probably wouldn't make a dime (because I'd eat it all myself).

I see that this is an older post, but welcome! I am the Kawartha Lakes, Ontario.

You can make really delicious raw chocolate with raw cacao powder. Have you tried it yet?
