Hello all,
It's been a while since I've strolled this forum, but I thought I'd throw something out there since it's pretty exciting for me.
I work at a local privately owned grocery store. All of the items in the store are organic/fair-trade/sustainable/all-natural (or a combination of several), and is fully equipped with all-organic (including local) produce, juice bar, deli, grass-fed meat and raw dairy department, fresh gluten-free products etc. It's pretty awesome, a grocery store I've been local to since before working there.
Anyway, since I started bringing a few of my raw creations to my friends that work with me my boss started noticing it and it's at the point where she always points customers with raw questions to me! It's really fun, I get to talk about raw (and even organic and/or vegan alternatives) to customers who want to live healthier.
So my boss is scheduling 2 days in June for me to set up a raw food demonstration in the store for which she will make flyers for. In the meantime, I gotta plan out my game-plan. She wants me to make a main creation for each day. What I think I'm going to do is prepare something sweet (and relatively easy of course, for the customers' sake) one day, and something savory the other. For one day I think I'll make a small variety of raw cookies/brownies/snack cakes and talk about incorporating raw foods into life to replace and lighten up deserts, nutty snacks and sweet yet healthy breakfasts. The other day I want to prepare something easy like savory dips for which I will bring fresh vegetables and dehydrated seed/veggie crackers, while of course talking about raw in general. And the most important, pointing them to the direction of the ingredients in the store!
So anyway, I tried not to make that too long, I'm in the planning process.
My question to you all... has anybody else done something similar? I'm just really excited because it's my first real chance to utilize my passion and skills for raw/natural foods in a public environment. Plus I have the entire grocery store to obtain whatever ingredients I need! Who knows, if all goes well I can convince my boss to start up a raw-food section since we already prepare and sell fresh, organic cooked foods ;)
