Hey guys. You've always heard in the cooked world that eating your biggest meal in the morning is best and then by dinner it should be light. You've also heard don't eat past 3 hours until your bedtime. Does any of this apply to raw foods? My eating patterns are not always the same, it usually depends on how my body feels.

I've never been able to have a large breakfast. Especially on raw. My stomach can simply not handle a big breakfast. Lunch is pretty much my biggest meal, although, that is not set in stone either. It really depends on how I feel. There are also times when I feel like having something small about an hour before bed if its been more than 3 hours since I last ate something.

Any thoughts on this and do each of you have your own guidelines?

I'm not a guy yet, I eat what I want, when I want. It's the natural way.

I agree. I eat when my body tells me..."Hey!!! I'm hungry. Put some food in the food hole."

me too. i don't eat at meal times... i eat when my body asks for fuel.

but you can make any rules that suit you... if it's rules you want/need.

The only ones I know of (though I don't really follow thus far) are related more to food combining.

Fruit digests most quickly so you don't want to eat it after slower to digest foods - for this reason I've heard it's best to eat fruit in the mornings or at least before your other foods.

I think nuts and things that are heavy are slowest to digest so ideally you eat your heaviest foods last in the day.

And then I think veggies are in the middle so they work well in the middle of the day.

Greens can go with any of these though!

I'm a 100% Intuitive Eater. ;) Meaning every day my diet changes... It works best for me this way. I've tried following "diet plans" in the past and surprise surprise, never "succeeded"... now following Alissa's "listen to your body" recommendation, I find myself "staying 100% Raw" with ease, clarity, conviction and PLEASURE.

Throughout my 20+ years pre-Raw, I associated Food with rules, depression, illness and aches and pains.

Today, Raw Food is associated in my head with Life, Health and Joy! I LOVE what I eat - and I eat what I love. It's that simple for me.
