Have any of you Manhattanites ever shopped at Westerly Market? ...I used to shop there, when I lived in NYC. It is a good-sized independent natural market. They have a nice selection of all organic produce.
It's at 54th and 8th. westerlynaturalmarket.com

as a yo-yoer BUT I am here again today and more enthusiastic about raw than ever. I can do this and I am working hard on it. And enjoying the journey.:D
Am so excited about trying this the low fat raw vegan way. It is still raw, so I can mention it here and I am not naming names. I must take some time to re-read Alissa's rules, I guess.
B. 10a.m. Green Smoothie: 1 large red pepper, 2 oranges, about 6oz spinach, and some water to be able to blend it. Very tasty - like liquid salad.:)
Sorry I haven't be very sociable with all of you - that's just the way it is for now - hopefully, as I gain clarity of mind and energy, this will change. I want that back for sure.
Have a great day dear rawbies.
xoxo

I can't believe we are on day 21 of this challenge. I am so excited to be here. I don't think I ever thought I could do this. Today is actually my day 30 of 100% raw in a row!!!!! You can do it, keep trying and pushing forward. If I can do it so can you. I am on day 44 of my 90 day raw challenge. I had some cooked food during the 2nd week which is why I am at 30 days in a row of 100% raw. If you eat something cooked just jump right back in and keep going. Eventually it will stick. This was my 3rd attempt at going raw.
Have a great day!!!
Good morning raw friends!! It's gorgeous here today, too, and like many of you seem to be, I'm in a wonderful mood!!! I also found the motivation to run 4 hard miles yesterday which made me happy- I've still got it, lol!
A New Me, thanks for telling us about Westerly Market! I haven't been there but I think I'll check it out on Friday!
Katy J, how was Quintessence? What did you get? I've only been to Pure Food & Wine, I need to go to the other raw restaurants around here! I haven't read Born to Run but I did take chia seeds when I lived in LA in the summer and they helped sooo much with keeping me hydrated!
kgarret, CONGRATULATIONS!!! You are a huge inspiration to me!
Food today:
B: half of my green smoothie from yesterday (was too filling!) so it was about 1.25 bananas, half a T raw coconut oil, kale, frozen mangoes/strawberries and half a cup of water- in a rush so I downed that baby!
S: 3 bananas at work
L: salad w/ romaine, carrots, cucumber, onion, tomatoes, half a small avo, yellow pepper, ACV & about half a tablespoon of EVOO
D: green smoothie w/ 2 bananas, kale, frozen mango/strawberries and 1 c. water
S: apple if needed
w/o: just walking, I walked a ton yesterday plus ran and did yoga so my body deserves a rest today!

It's at 54th and 8th. westerlynaturalmarket.com Hey, I have... but not since 2006, which was the first time I tried raw (just for 2 weeks at the time). I worked in midtown and so went there one day to get some raw supplies. With Lifethyme and Integral Yoga closer to me I haven't had any reason to go up there but it's a great store - if it's closer for you Danielle, you should definitely check it out. I do remember it being great with lots of raw treats.

Isn't it gorgeous here?! And I'm also in a great mood today. Nice job on the run. Where's the marathon?
Quintessence was great. I got the Big Mac and it was really good. The Husband got the indian platter and it was so-so. Then we got the mango pudding parfait and it was AMAZING. I could eat it everyday. It was pretty much the filling for the crepes without the crepes. Mango avocado pudding with coconut cream, strawberries, and banana. So, so delicious.
Pure is the best in my book but also really expensive so we keep it as a treat for now and then. Quintessence isn't cheap by any means but nowhere near as much as Pure. It's really good. I think we've been there 4 times in the last week.
I decided to come into the office a little late cause otherwise I wouldn't have any food here and I didn't have anything pressing to do so I got busy in the kitchen. I made mock tuna salad and chia seed pudding. The mock tuna is delicious but I seriously have enough for an army now. I figured I'd try dehydrating some in little patties cause it would probably go to waste otherwise so even if it comes out bad, no loss really. I ate some of the chia seed pudding before I left but now I'm gonna eat the rest for a late breakfast.
I have one piece of onion bread left so will have that with some lettuce and mock tuna later.
We have more mock tuna at home for dinner - or maybe the patties will be done and edible?
Hey, how much are people sleeping compared to pre-raw? I'm sleeping way more than I did before, which is surprising. I thought I'd turn super human by now and only need 5 or 6 hours but I need like 9-10!! That said, if I slept that much in the past I'd probably wake up feeling cranky that I slept so much but I wake up feeling really good so I guess I need it but I'm hoping I need less as time goes on.
Hi all! Feeling good feeling great over here too. What a wonderful week it is and it's only Wednesday. I went to the gym yesterday and that was way cool. I'm glad to be back! Today I have:
-the rest of the green smoothie from yesterday
-collard salad with beets, carrots, gr onion, lemon juice, tamari
-leftover marinated mushrooms with all the fixings
-an avocado
-oranges, apples and pineapple
I'm not feeling too hungry and have only had a bit of green smoothie so I'll see how that goes. I'm happy to hear how happy and festive everyone is along with all of the good news! Have a fantastic day all. :D

It's so nice to log on here and see so much enthusiasm and good moods! Glad to see everyone's success and I appreciate all of your posts on here in helping me stay inspired and excited. Congratulations on 30 days kgarrett!
I've been up all night, have been nocturnal lately but usually can sleep by now! Anyway, I've had a banana with coconut and walnuts, raw chocolate, a smoothie. Later I'm planning to make some mock tuna salad with sprouted millet and almond mayonnaise, the raw doritos I mentioned before, and maybe if I'm lucky some more pico de gallo... hahaaa mmmmmmmm!
lodestar - tropical smoothies? Do tell! I am salivating!

It was lovely and sunny in London today, if a little cold! Been feeling amazing-- isn't it weird the way being raw makes you feel beautiful in the mirror no matter your size? Danced around my room a lot today, but I still need to work up the motivation to go to the gym... :p
Starting a green smoothie feast today that I'm hoping will last until my birthday (about 45 days). Already craving mangoes and all sorts of yummy exotic fruit... but...
Breakfast: 0.75 liters green smoothie with two prunes, a banana, and many handfuls of spinach
Lunch: 0.75 liters green smoothie with a banana, lots of spinach, and stevia
Dinner.... should be the same! :)

Hi all! I can't believe the computer shows that it has been almost 10 days since my last visit!! I am enjoying wonderful GS lately!! My favorite right now is:
kale
spinach
lemons
grapefruit
green apple
cucumber
celery
stevia
YUMMMERS!! I never thought that citrus would be so yummy in a smoothie. I am avoiding sweet fruits right now, which used to be the only way I could drink a GS....boy have things changed.
I am also enjoying CHIA PUDDING The way I make it right now is nut mylk, stevia, cinnamon....chia seeds....I use about 1 cup of mylk to 1/3 cup of seeds....this usually lasts me 2 servings!
Glad to see everyone doing so well!!
Peace.

Okay, so champagne mangos are cRaZy delicious right now!!!!
I had one of my old smoothies I haven't had in about a month. It was 2 frozen bananas with wheat grass/ spirulina/ maca/ kelp powder. It was VERY VERY yummy! I used to add ground flax but my body has been wanting me to eat lighter so I exnayed that & it totally made a difference!

B: Green smoothie of blueberries, bananas, and spinach. It was divine.
L: Ummmm.....what? LOL, I think I had some dates. We were very low on food in the house till just a few minutes ago when I went out and spent $300 (for a family of 7 so don't panic). I also had a raw greens bar while out and about.
S: Just had some guacamole with celery sticks. Excellent.
I will have some kind of snack later on, probably the date nut rolls I got at the natural market.
Back to feeling the raw love today. I am pretty much over the cravings and feeling a lot better physically too. I bought a new raw ebook and am looking forward to trying some new recipes with all this food I bought.
AND........my husband told me last night that if it encouraged me, he would start eating raw in the evenings with me! That is huge thing as he is a real meat and potatoes guy. So now I do have to make sure I have something planned every night. Can't wing it when a man and his big appetite are involved!

Today I had
Honey Dew
Cantaloupe
Green Smoothie (Spinach and Lettuce from our garden), mango, and frozen banana, added 1 TBSP of Hemp Seeds.
Salad with lettuce from garden, sea flakes, celery, 1 avocado, and some coconut aminos for some taste.
Flax Crackers
Still get the rash after I eat, and today after I ate the salad the rash came back pretty strong, and my muscles felt really heavy and fatigued. The pain lasted about an hour.
I go and see a new gastro specialist tomorrow, so I pray we can figure out why I get this way after I eat, no matter what I eat??? Didn't have any rash or pain the 7 days I fasted. It's almost like a reaction when my stomach has to digest something, and the harder it is to digest the worst the symptoms.
I will hopefully have some answers tomorrow.

Cathy
