I have recently been drawn to taking charcoal as i have read a number of things on it as a cleanser and also to rid of flatulence, i suffer badly with them and i feel this is down to two main reasons that i cannot change(or not at the current time) Stress and scar tissues from a previous operation on my colon. Diet and exercise helps the pains alot but as soon as i come under any type of stress my insides go into spasm and painful flatulence's start.
I have been scowring for vegan or vegetarian charcoal capsules but cannot find any that are not coated in gelatine, i found one brand that was vegan but had very little charcoal init.
Or could someone please suggest what else i could take to help. I eat fennel daily, take aloe vera. From what i read its more what you dont eat than what you do for these problems.

A natural remedy I've used with success in the past is eating mineral clay.

Mix it with some water into a thick molten consistency and eat around a tablespoon of it (or as much as you can stand up to a tablespoon).

I've used green clay, but I think any clay will do (you want to use a high quality of clay for internal ingestion).

Clay is a powerful binder of gases in the intestine.

If you can't take the clay texture...just buy vegan capsules and fill them yourself and take as a pill. And I would caution taking something every single day....like aloe....you want to support your body, not override it's natural rhythm.

Have you done a cleanse since the surgery? That would help with the scar tissue.

It would be great if you could find a somatic/bodywork that you resonate with that could help you not go into fight-or-flight and seize your solar plexus.

Network chiropractic, abdominal massage, somato-emotional release, eft, craniosacral, and polarity are all my suggestions to get you started on seeking out a way to heal yourself.

Good luck!:)

I found one:

Nature's Answer Activated Charcoal -- 90 Vegetarian Capsules

I did a google search - they are pretty cheap... you could also ask your health food store to order them for you! :D

Thankyou guys! :) will do abit of research into the things mentioned. i have never heard of eating clay, never seen it in health shops in UK to eat but will have a look on the net.

No to be honest i have not done a 'proper' cleanse or juice fast, i am abit scared to be truly honest. i had the operation 6 years ago and since then has been very difficult and developed social phobia (mainly because of the health problems) i seem to go through 6 month periods of getting well again, then 6 months of down hill and shutting myself away. I can feel that i really really must do something.
The problem i have is that my current illness when eating raw/ not eating raw i become tired very quickly and also nausea/dizziness general weakness i can not manage more than 20mins of very light exercise ie trampoline, yoga, 20 squats. when eating cooked/ cooked and raw food i experience monthly bleeding from anus but when eating raw that slightly reduces and also the endo pains (the specialist thinks i may have endometriosis amongst other things)they want to operate to have a look to see whats up but i feel like my body has had enough of operations and is telling me not to let them open me up again. One person has remote viewed me and thinks that another part of my colon has gone putrid and is flopping around and leaking all the time and that i either feel like i have lymes disease of have lymes. I really feel like i have had enough in my lifetime of orthodox medicine.
I hope that makes sense and not to much rambling. I would love to do a cleanse and feel like i need it my diet at the moment is around 70% raw , but i feel like i cannot feel much weaker and i get palpitations quite easily, i dont want to shock my body and it constantly craves nuts and seeds when raw, i do try to limit that though but i think it helps subside the dizziness.

You just take care and take it easy ok? :)

The clay I mentioned is often in the beauty section, it's used a s a face mask. You need to make sure it's just plain old mineral clay and nothing else. It's the stuff I sometimes eat. Does the trick!

Thanks again, the clay arrived today, i am taking the charcoal first (took it this morning) but it doesnt seem to have done any good (yet) i have still had wind but also my stomach has swollen up and i look pregnant, finding it difficult to bend over. feels almost like im going to break into colic. Will try again tomorrow see how it goes...
Just wondered if anybody knew if taking the clay and charcoal together would be a disaster? ha i really want rid of this gas , it is ruining my social life, even my animal friends are going off me.

Hmmm.. I'd probably try one then the other first before taking both.

If neither of them work alone then try both. I don't see any reason why they would be harmful together.

DGL, a licorice root extract is very soothing. The part that raises blood pressure is supposedly removed. I know I can take it and my bp is unaffected. I was told by a chinese healer to take it to balance my system. ( Apparently it balances yin/yang energies. ) Some take it to protect from acid reflux. Dr Weil takes it, I read that in one of his books. You could instead use the root: it would probably raise bp tho. I prefer the extract. Might help.

Slippery elm comes in powder. You just mix it into warm water. It becomes gelatinous and apparently helps to heal comprimised digestive systems. If you google s. elm you will find it also whisks toxins from the system. Its one of the 4 Essiac herbs. I consider it part of God's pharmacy: a true healing herb.
