Feeling a bit better today - 2 more pounds down. Of course, I didn't have much of an appetite the last 2 days. Downing the pure cranberry juice worked last night. I am finishing the bottle off. My appetite seems to be back but gonna take it easy today on the food.
Today is day 40 of my 90 day raw challenge - WOW!! But I am 28 days 100% (I'm not gonna count the cranberry juice as off raw because it really was medicinal, it was that or go for antibiotics). I have lost 28 pounds in the last 40 days - Yeah!!!
A couple of green smoothies for breakfast and lunch and then a salad for dinner. I will snack on apples if I need something extra.
Have a great raw day!

28 lbs. in 40 days... Zowie! How is this possible?
B: Smoothie: Kale, banana, pineapple
S: Found raw macaroons at the healthfood store, made by a company out of Ithaca: Emmy's Organics (emmysorganics.com)
Back to post today's food thus far:
Green smoothie (spinach, bananas, frozen peaches, ground flax, maca, green supplement)
Mashed avocado and onion with lemon juice, dill, salt and pepper, scooped up with cucumber slices (soooooo good, I wish I had more!)
Cacao smoothie (yeah, this has become a daily occurrence that I'd like to cut back but I wanted a pick-me-up)
My allergies are really bothering me. Supposedly the pollen count is super high in this area. Ugh. I feel dazed and confused. My husband is urging me to take a Claritin, but I took a Sudafed last night and felt nauseous and when I eventually fell asleep had really bizarre dreams. No more pills! I'm hoping to just get through this naturally.
It is so encouraging to hear how well everyone is doing with this challenge.
*** back to add more:
Salad of mixed greens, beets, carrots, onions with lemon, olive oil, dill, and pepper. Good but too heavy on the onions.
Banana ice cream with frozen peaches and coconut flakes. Okay, but it's hurting my lips (???) and I'm realizing I prefer my banana ice cream w/ walnuts, cinnamon and honey mixed in.
Day 16! Woo hoo! Feeling good, feeling great over here! I made a VERY NICE salad today with a dill dressing. I love Karen Knowler’s suggestion to cut the oil with the same amount of water to make it a less oily and heavy dressing. It works! I had a simple green smoothie today of collards, pineapple, spinach, bananas and water. It was so freeeeesh. For later I have apples and pears. I felt like a giraffe eating my salad, ha ha ha! Enjoy this day!
Well I must have been half asleep when I posted this morning, b/c I posted in yesterday's thread! So here's a re-post in the right thread:
Hi rawbies! Do you mind another challenger? I've done quite a few of these and have been eating high raw for a while, and now that the weather is warmer I am ready to go all raw again. I'm hoping that eating all raw throughout the spring/summer will make it easier to stay raw all winter, since this past winter was pretty challenging! I'm a CA transplant living in NYC and um...this was a lot easier in CA! LOL.
Anyway my plan for the day- I've only had breakfast so far though:
B: 2.5 bananas
w/o: 5 mile run...tapering for my marathon on May 2!
S: lara bar (do you guys count these as raw? I know they're not completely raw but they've always worked really well for me)
w/o: 1 hour hot power vinyasa yoga aka the highlight of my day
S: grocery shopping- will probably pick up a mango/strawberry fruit salad to munch
Late L: green smoothie w/ banana, kale, frozen mangoes & strawberries & water
D: huuuge salad w/ baby greens, carrots, red pepper, tomato, half an avocado & raw ACV
S: banana w/ raw almond butter
I'm also making raw zucchini hummus today to eat for dinners on some nights!! Soo much better than the processed store-bought stuff!
Zuri, thanks for the info on lara bars. I was so disappointed when I learned that they aren't totally raw, since the wrappers used to say that they were raw. To answer your question, I moved from Los Angeles to Vermont to fulfill my dream of working in an animal shelter...then when I couldn't take the cold and country, my family convinced me to stay on the East Coast rather than go back to CA, so I moved to Manhattan since it's a place everyone has to live in once! Not the best decision for me, but I'm trying to enjoy it while I'm here!

Goober - good idea on dates in green smoothies, I'll try that if I have one that's too bitter and not enough fruit around!
Welcome meow, it's my day 1 too :) I think raw zuke hummus is even better than raw chickpea hummus sometimes. Very smooth.
This morning I got so caught up in rationalization! I was going to take a long bus trip for an appointment that happened to be right next to my favorite cooked restaurant, where I haven't eaten in a long time. I was thinking I had to go there since I'd be right there, and it would just be one last time, blah blah... Luckily I found out their hours didn't coincide with those of my appointment. Even then I thought about sticking around til they opened, then realized I've done this so many times before. Finding something that would be "one last time" over and over and over. I'm just turning my attention back to raw foods and the reasons I believe it's important: peace of mind, energy, relief from depression and tiredness, helps me make other good choices, see more clearly, be more present and more alive personally and socially, to prevent illness, help with flexibility and strength training, keep my body in a state of excellent health...
Why sacrifice that for the never ending one last bite of whatever?
And really, raw food is what tastes truly wonderful, especially when fully engaged in eating it. So I am loving my huge fruit salad, have some celery and almond butter for later and thinking about carob-date-avocado pudding. Mmmm lots of fat for day one ;)

Hi all,
Welcome Meow and Kylarei.
Was swamped at work yesterday and then beat when i got home so didn't get a chance to post.
I've been having a tough time staying raw these past couple days. Lots of cravings and I guess I'm detoxing cause my skin is a mess! Which is kind of disappointing. The husband says it's no worse than when i'd eat a bunch of cheese when I was eating cooked and my reply was "yeah, but then at least I got to eat cheese!!"
So anyway, I've stayed raw but I can't say I'm feelin' the love right now.
I had some leftover gingeraid and blackberries for breakfast. Lunch was a "meatball sandwich" that I picked up pre-made after a work meeting followed by some apple cobbler. These were both good but I miss making my own foods and need to get back to it.
For dinner we went to Quintessence and I got the mexican platter there, which was just too heavy. Consisted of a taco and an enchilada but the enchilada was filled with a brick of nutmeat.
I feel like I may just want some juice and soup for a day or two. Feeling heavy and my skin is just really itchy where it's breaking out. Trying to remember that detox is a GOOD THING!
Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi Katy, thanks for the welcome! Where'd you get a "meatball sandwich?" I'm going to a catered dinner this sunday with raw cheeseburgers and Doritos. Lol. I'm usually into lighter things but it can be fun.
I do tend to crave bready stuff but I finally discovered the simplest thing that works great for me! Sprouted buckwheat mixed with dates and spices with some pieces of fruit in it, make into cookies and dehydrate. SO good for cravings. I just ate some. Other than that had lots of fruit, celery and raw almond butter, and a little bit of a leftover raw brownie.

Hey there,
Got it at a natural food store here in the city. This company Awesome Foods based in PA makes them. I know they make the bread out of sprouted quinoa. The meatballs are nuts etc and then they're in a tomato sauce. It's really good.
