I'm thinking of moving out to CA to pursue my marine biology career. I have family and friends out there so I took a short trip to the San Fernando valley. I brought ginger bars with me that I made and they turned out so yummy! I brought raw corn chips and cheese itz for the plane ride too. I ended up eating more closer to 100% raw when I was out there as compared to my normal 90%. It was so easy! The fruits and veggies out there are so much fresher!! I was amazed how the avocados were green and soft like they should be. Normally when I go out to eat, the avocados are not ripe enough and have hardly any flavor. Its a shame what shipping does. Anyway, I realized how important this board is to me. It really inspires me and I just wanted to say thank you to all the people that have given me recipe ideas and words of encouragement! It's great to be back!:D

Every time I go to San Diego I visit Farmers' Markets just for that very reason. Plus, you don't get weird looks like you do here in Phx when you get fruit salad instead of potato salad.

I watch all the YouTube videos from CA and see their farmer's markets, etc. and think, "Wow!!!" And they're year round it seems!

Are you excited about the move? *Ü*

Some are, not all yet, we can find a market open 6 days a week if we're willing to travel a bit... and, that's not a bad thing either. :)

I'm deciding on either LA near Calabasas or Encinitas in San Diego. Either place I'll be able to go to school. Any suggestions???

I lived in San Diego for a couple of years and loved it. Ever since I moved back to northern California I've been trying to find my way back down there. Both places have its pros and cons. I'd personally choose San Diego. There's always a lot going on in LA, but the people aren't as friendly as they are in San Diego. If you’re not trying to get into the entertainment industry, go with San Diego.

Ok, so I kept going back and forth but I have decided the Encinitas area. At least somewhere close to there. I'm not really into the whole crowded LA thing. :)

Same dilemma here and I ended up picking SD. I have family in both, but I am a teacher not in entertainment, so while I love LA, I think I am going to find better jobs in SD. Love the stores and farmers markets there. Have to finish out one more school year, but then CA here I come.

I hope you love the area!
