Hi there raw foodists,

I live in Singapore and being a raw foodist here can be very lonely indeed. There isnt a community that i know of and its also a challenging to find decent, fresh organic produce, superfoods, organic raw nuts/seeds and recipes that will involve the local fruit/veg that i have available to me. This seems like a wonderful place for me to come to!

Oh, and i'm 21 years old, female and currently enrolled in uni in BC, Canada but i'm back in Singapore for a year (health issues, which have lead me to come down the raw food path). Mum is from hong kong and dad is british, for those who wonder why my english is so fluent :P.

Thank you and Happy Mango Season!

Hey, Xiao-Mei! You know, I'm in the U.S. but don't personally know any other local raw foodists. It's lonely here, too. That's why I love this site! It's a gread resource, bursting with encouragement, recipes and advice. You've come to a good place! Welcome! :)

XM,

Hi there. Maybe when you go back you'd like to start some sort of a "healthy eating" group or something of that nature. There must be some sort of health-food store etc, where you could even post a flyer or the equivalent of a raw meetup like we have here on the internet.

FreedomSeeker --def check to see if there's a rawmeetup in your area. No doubt there are.

Oh, and is it mango season? LOL, I didn't know. Should keep an eye out.

What I know from a little look...

From memory at Mustapha there are lots of good options of nuts/ etc.

Golden Landmark Centre has an organic place, there is also one out on Bukit Timah Road out near the nature reserve (next to a Coffee Bean).

Also googled a raw restaurant http://www.hungrygowhere.com/singapore/raw_kitchen_bar/

Me I have not been anywhere in Sing, just easing into it after my first detox in Thailand... Think I am ready to take the step... For now anyway!

You have tropical fruit yes? WIN!!!!!!!

What you lack in other departments you can probably make up in that dept. :)

Welcome to the forum! I know what it's like to be lonely, I went for years knowing no others, but it's blossomed here lately. And when I went vegan years ago I went for 5 YEARS knowing no other vegans (except for my BF who went vegan after me).

But chin up, you have the net, with a worldwide resource of people, support and online products.

Go you!
