I just watched a video on youtube from the Renegade Health show on how to make raw almond yogurt. I have some questions that maybe someone here can answer?

Can I open a probiotic cap. and use it as my culture starter?
Can I use my dehydrator as my 'yogurt maker' and if so how long do I leave the yogurt in there?

Thanks!

I know that they answered one of the questions, the one about the dehydrator, in ep #544. And yes it will work well, just make sure to use an air tight container.
Don't know if the other question was answered there (they had a lot of fermentation questions) so you might want to watch it.

Well I'll try making a little batch of yogurt and see how it turns out!

Their almond yogurt made me think of the coconut yogurt that my husband made last year. He didn't use probiotics in it though - he used a yogurt starter packet that we bought at the health food store. I didn't have any of it - but he loved it.

He made it counter top - no yogurt maker. Donna Gates' book just arrived a couple days ago and I'm looking forward to learning a lot about this and fermented veggies from her. *Ü*

I'm wanting to get in to fermented foods now. Maybe I'll have a look for her book, as I saw some of her stuff on youtube and thought she was very interesting.

I'd been toying with the idea of getting her book for some time - but when I saw her as a guest on The Renegade Health show, I went ahead and ordered it.

I've made sauerkraut, but no other fermented veggies. There's so much too learn - how exciting! *Ü*

Hi DebB;

I must be out of the loop of things. Could you tell me what the name of the book is.
Thank you and take care, Paul.

I love my homemade nut mylk yogurts. I bought a large container of dairy free freeze dried starter. I use it when i make a new type of yogurt. Ricght now i have a pint of almond yogurt, cocnut yogrt and trying cashew yogurt. And i use my dehydraor as an incubator

Hi crkdjwlr ~ The name is Body Ecology Diet (http://www.amazon.com/Body-Ecology-Diet-Recovering-Rebuilding/dp/0963845837/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1271302516&sr=8-1) by Donna Gates. I ordered it to learn more about fermenting food items. I'm hoping that information is in there! *Ü*

My stomach goes CRAZY when I try to eat fermented foods.
I bloat, and my stomach sounds crazy, gurgling, bubbling, and really hurts.
Is it because it's helping with the bacteria? I just don't like the way I feel when I eat it, but I know it's so good for you.
Any advice?
