Some of you are familiar with my story. Long one short I have lost 63 lbs in 3 1/2 months. Well I went off raw 4 weeks ago, lost 4 more lbs, then another lb and then this week I gained that last lb back. I'm uncontrollably eating again, and I NEED to go back on raw. I went off because my dh said it was getting to be too expensive to eat raw, and really I agree with him.

my point: I have to go back to raw for health reasons, and for peace of mind, and for weight loss. HAVE TO. I need to know the cheapest but nutritius-est way to eat raw. I find that the diet plus the b12 etc can be very costly what with the raw nuts and the nutritional yeast that I have to order off the ineternet etc.

Please help me.. I will NOT gain this weight back. I'm still exercising every single day and it's not worth it to me to do that if I'm not going to be reaping the weight loss benefits. Sure I like to feel stronger, but let's be real- I dont wanna be 178 the rest of my life. not even the rest of this week.:mad:

hey amytug-

the amount of stress/aniety you are putting on yourself is NOT good for your body! it is creating an acid environment!

there will be transitions - you don't have to eat a ton of nuts or supplement forever and ever! get more green based drinks and smoothies in you - stay alkaline...

i don't know where you are - but farmer's markets? co-ops? csas? more produce, salads, veg, fruits than expensive nuts off the internet. simplify. ask yourself, is your need to eat uncontrollably right now an emotional one? try to meditate on that and see what comes up!

i admire your tenacity about wanting to make sure that all your hard work does not come undone. stay positive and take a moment to thank yourself, honor your body, and be grateful for the things you have and people in your life. you have created some amazing success for yourself - keep up the great work!!

I agree with rawvive. The easiest way to ensure you gain it back...is to obsess over it. Repeat after me. "My body releases weight easily and effortlessly". Please don't stress. Eat as much raw as possible for you at this time. I know you aren't totally off the path because you are still here. Give yourself credit for that.

Hugs and love to you.

I really am obsessing about it... *nods* I think I'll do that as soon as dh gets his paycheck, go back to raw, eat more mono meals, less recipes, and more smoothies.. focus more on produce that is in season and now that it's warming up I WILl be able to go to the one farmers market here. (though sometimes they have roadside thingies set up) I'm so excited to get back to raw.. It's so addictive isn't it? Your body knows what's best for it and I'll tell you that a grilled cheese sandwich isn't it! or oreos. :o

or oreos. :o
laughing hysterically at this. and the font change for emphasis! love it!

and there ARE raweos, you know.....

From a 2005 Revvell post on RFT:

Raweo from Raw in 10

2 C soaked Almonds, OR 2 C. soaked sunflower seeds
2 C. Water
5 T. Carob Powder
5 T. Agave
Raw Coconut oil
Cheesecloth
Small Cookie Cutters

Blend Almonds and Water until almonds become very small crumb-like in size. Pour into cheesecloth over a large mixing bowl. Squeeze all the almond milk you can and save the pulp. Later you can experiment and make them as moist as you like. Save the almond mild to drink or use otherwise.

In a medium bowl mix almond pulp with the carob powder with a fork, then add agave, mix with fork again until evenly mixed. Using your hands, roll small balls, then flatten into cookie shapes. Make sure they are well compacted. Spoon desired amt of "creamy filling" which is the coconut oil, in between 2 of the "cookies" and enjoy. If your coconut oil is melted, then you need to cool to hard. You could also blend the coconut oil with come coconut meat to make the creamy filling too. Use cookie cutters if you desire.

I need to know the cheapest but nutritius-est way to eat raw.

I'm surprised no one mentioned sprouts, easy, cheap, super nutritous.

sunflower sprouts are my all-time favorite sprout.

next i do alfalfa, mung, and chickpeas. sometimes if i've slacked off on sprouting i'll buy the beautiful blends at the co-op, which is usually something like sunnys, lentils, aduki, alfalfa, broccoli, and radish sprouts. spicy - yum!

i just soak flax and use it in my crackers mainly.

Amytug, are you the one who has MS? If so did raw help with those symptoms? I might be thinking of another member from Missouri.

Either way, congratulations on the weight loss you did realize. That is something to be proud of. Best wishes to you and yours, in finding a way to eat raw without it being a financial burden.

For a relatively small start up cost you can plant and harvest enough greens to provide or supplement several meals a week, growing them indoors under a fluorescent shop light if you have the space.

seriously, if you need to go cheap, cut out the nuts, cut out whatever you're buying online.

It's NOT necessary to be raw.

stick to veggies, and fruits and sprouts. you don't even need oils if you can't afford them right now.

seeds are pretty cheap too.

you'll be just fine without the b12 supp. too.

definitely making these cookies for DD.
I buy 'day old' fruit and veggies' as often as possible. I know many would not agree but i'ts the main way I do in the winter. Go to some grocery stores and find out if they mark down bruised/soft produce. Tell them you'd like it. this will save them time and you can know when they are doing it. I keep them in 'green bags'. Avocados will last for a week. some organic ones for .33!

I agree with simplifying, both to save money and to lose weight. Stick to fruit, smoothies and salads and you will save a lot of money and lose weight.

There are several threads here with money saving tips.

Some quick tips:

Find asian and hispanic stores with grocery sections and produce stores, they are usually much less expensive than grocery stores.

Stock up on fruit when it is on sale and freeze what you can't eat in time.

Ask for case discounts on produce

Ask the produce manager to sell you their "un-sellables"--Most grocery stores won't but smaller health food stores, co-ops, ethnic markets and produce stores usually will. Usually the stuff is perfectly ripe or just a bit bruised in places. You can cut out the bruised spots.

YOU CAN DO THIS!!! :-) You just have to want it badly enough and make it a priority.

Blessings,

Audrey

Isn't there also an ebook it's somehow called, rawfood under 10 or 5 dollars?
Just to get inspiration.

I for example, love to take the green leaves from the beet, turnip cabbage, carrots and so on of other customers, who does not take them. They normally throw them away, but it doesn't cost anything and is a very good basis for a green smoothie. I just get asked at the cashier: "For your rabbits?" And I just show my teeth in a rabbitway and I get a smile...

Amy, all the strength for you, keep it raw!

Saludos,

Marcel

I was inspired by a quote from jstmee46's blog post yesterday....

There is a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results. ~Ken Blanchard

Makes me think.....;)

I purchase whatever fruits/veggies are on sale that week & look good to me. I don't eat a ton of nuts/seeds - just a small handful each day. Salad stuff is pretty cheap too. There are a lot of options - good luck! :)
