'morning all!
Started the day off with Alissa's strawberry crepes. Halved the recipe for the filling and ate with raspberries, blueberries and of course, strawberry syrup. What a Sunday brunch treat! :)
Off to a baseball game today... will have to bring snacks with me. Then dinner at my MIL's tonight. I usually prepare a raw dish to bring with me, but this was a last minute invite, so I'll have to see what I can whip up rather quickly with the ingredients I have.
cheerio!

I woke up with a new perspective today and teared up when I read how wonderfully all of you are doing and was re-inspired. I plan to just do fruits today to cleanse my palet and system and start detox over again. Wishing all well and will continue to gain strength from your posts

Aack! First time spending the day on the road yesterday, while raw. Didn't bring nearly enough to eat. ...Wound up having some "natural" tortilla chips with guacamole; was surprised how salty the chips seemed to me, since I really haven't added any NaCl to my food since going raw. Though I was officially off the wagon, it was a kinda cool discovery that I don't crave that salt anymore.
Well... BACK in the saddle again. ...You and me, Clover!
...The concept of making sure to eat enough food I think deserves mention. ...I recall reading in one of Victoria Boutenko's books, I think it was Twelve Steps to Ending Your Addiction to Cooked Food, where she mentioned that when she first went raw, she ate a case of avocados, and went on to lose a lot of weight; while her young son initially craved blueberries, and ate a bunch of those. It turned out in a doctor's exam that his body was deficient in exactly the nutrients that blueberries provide. So, it seems further testament to trust your body to know what it needs--and to make sure you give it that!

I have realized today 2 things
1 - My GERD symptoms will return even on raw if I eat too much food or the wrong combinations of food. Yummy cheesecake but now I am having what I think are esophogeal spasms.
2 - My cravings for cooked foods have also returned. You know that feeling of being full and hungry at the same time. It is happening today. I haven't had that for weeks and weeks. I haven't had anything that is not raw so it has to be what I ate. Too much sugar that is not part of a fruit.
So I realize that it isn't just about being raw but, what I eat and how I combine it that works.
Hopefully I will learn my lesson.
Today I had and apple for breakfast and lasagna and salad for lunch with a piece of the cheesecake for dessert. For dinner I i will either have a smoothy or a salad.
Still going strong - starting my 5th week tomorrow!
Keep up the good work everyone

We've been prepping up a storm over here with the meatloaf and mashed potatoes last night and then the fettucini alfredo for dinner this evening and now I'm about to start dehydrating some tomatoes to make a marinara sauce for some squash rolatini for dinner tomorrow night that The Husband saw on juliesrawambition.com. I loved the meatloaf. Not so hot on the mashed potatoes. And the fettucini was a redux from our first week so need I say more? It's good stuff. I like a bit of extra lemon on it and some nutritional yeast and freshly ground pepper.
Anyway, it's Day 17 for me and I'm feeling really good. I think it's starting to kick in a little. Practiced yoga for the third time in 4 days and my body is starting to feel way more open than it has been lately.
Can't really remember what I snacked on today - some leftover meatloaf, a chocolate shake, some strawberries, some o.j., some bananas with chocagave sauce, and probably another couple bananas straight up (that sounded bad).
I am getting organized on the raw front. The first couple weeks I was letting The Husband do most of the more intricate prep. I get overwhelmed by recipes that require soaking and sprouting and dehydrating and then taking for a walk around the block before serving but I'm making a spreadsheet to make it all less daunting. On it I have recipes I've made and love and recipes I'd like to make with columns for soaking time, sprouting time, dehydrating time, and total prep time so that I can start making some weekly meal plans. It's nice having these 6 days in one place to get all this stuff straightened out and make some real dishes.
So I realize that it isn't just about being raw but, what I eat and how I combine it that works.
I'm still learning this too. I never realized how much combining the "wrong" foods contribute greatly to fatigue and general discomfort.
The rest of my day went okay. Was pretty rushed, so only had a few moments to grab some snacks for the game (2 raw coconut-almond cookies, sprouted pumpkin seeds, dates)... then swung by the house to throw together a salad to bring with me before heading out my MIL's for dinner.
Had banana-coconut pie for dessert, 2 slices. Also wasn't 100% raw today, close... but not 100% (can I write that?)... and I think it's because I didn't feel really in control of when I was eating or having access to what I really wanted to eat.
Tomorrow is another day, and I'm looking forward to more raw goodness.
Surprisingly, I've gain a little more weight! We don't have a scale, so I always weight myself at my MIL's... I was really taken back to see that I gained! Either way, it's just a number. I know I'm healthy.
g'night
