Hi everyone, after lots of searching I finally found a website that will show you a huge variety of food counts! You can search for foods with the highest protein, calcium, iron, etc. It's a great tool to help keep a balanced diet. And, you can search in seperate categories like vegetables, nuts, fruits, etc. That way do don't have to bother searching through all the listings of meat to find what veggies have the most protein.

We don't have to do that anyway as protein is highly overrated and it's almost impossible to "suffer" from lack of sufficient protein if one is eating raw since all nature's foods contain protein in varying amounts. One good thing about the raw food lifestyle is one (if they so wish) can totally eliminate all of that stuff and go about enjoying their lives in amazing health.
Many here of course will disagree and will appreciate your research muchly. :)

Thanks Lisa,
Neat website! I love stuff like this (not that I worry about a balanced diet
all that much); just neat. Spirilina came up for top protein food under veggies.

Thanks Lisa! I was actually shown this website in my Human Nutrition course but forgot all about it! Doh! Then a friend had me on a quest to find where she could see all the different types of amino acids and which foods had which and which foods lacked in which amino acids since she said she had trouble balancing her proteins being vegetarian. Personally for me, it is easy if you just eat a variety of plant foods, but she said she was having trouble. So, thanks for the reminder of this site. I now have something to show my friend!

While I agree with Rev, it's still a good website for other food facts. My body is not yet always telling me what I need so I need to double check stuff sometimes and this is a good place to do it.
My fiance has little appetite because of a medication he's taking. I have to check this site on occasion to make sure he's getting enough goodies for his body type in order to keep his energy up (as he requires much more fats and fruit than I do on top of his daily greens). His body doesn't tell him what he needs AT ALL so he pretty much just eats what I make.

I know protein is overrated. I was just using that as an example of what you can look up on the site. I think it is helpful sometimes to double check what you eat and make sure you are getting a good balance. Sometimes I find myself eating the same 3 or 4 things everyday for days/weeks at a time. My goal now is to make sure I eat a huge variety and get all kinds of different nutrients, so it's fun to look it up. Also, it's a good knowledge to have when answering that nagging question meat-eaters always ask "where to get your protein?" Instead of arguing with them that you don't really need that much protein (which they won't believe anyway) you can just tell them or show them that PUMPKIN SEEDS actually have more protein that BEEF!!! so ha! (I get those nagging questions from just about everyone that knows my eating habits.)

I don't argue with them... I just look at their junk food and ask them where they think they are getting theirs. For me one of the answers that's never gone beyond the response is ~ From my food. *shrugs*
Hijacking a bit here ~ it's a wonder to me that SAD folk never even realize most of them are overfed and undernourished. What nutrients do they think they are getting from soda, chips, candy, etc? Okies, rant over. :)
