I'm going to be flying to CA to visit some relatives near LA. I've made some raw corn chips and raw cheese itz for the plane ride. I will also carry on some fruit. I went to whole foods the other day and I got a free sample of a new raw product they are going to be selling. The company is based out of Charlottesville, VA but I cannot for the life of me, find that stupid wrapper! I wanted to make my own energy/raw food bars to take with me on the trip. I kind of wanted to mimic what I had. It had dates, almonds, ginger and coconut. I only have a fresh coconut. I'm leaving early this Friday morning so I need something that I can have ready by Thursday. Anyone feel like sharing a recipe or helping me come up with something that will stick together either with or without dehydrating by Thursday?

Dates are usually gooey enough to act as a base. You should be able to blend those all together or at least a couple and stir in the others. Nut butters can also be a base.
Hi ~ I've got an idea! You might like to watch Ani Phyo's YouTube video on her
Donut Holes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuGjDagUWNg)(which are fan-TAS-tic!). I don't see why you couldn't do the same and put in grated (?) ginger instead of the dried pineapple she does. I think it would work for you! They're quick too - no dehydrating.
Really - these are SO GOOD. I made them yesterday at a raw food demo at my home and "the crowd went wild" - ha! Not one left.
You don't have to roll them in the coconut. You could shape them however you want. But the little balls are nice - just pop 'm in your mouth. They'd be great for on the plane.
Have a great trip! Are you going to check out the raw food scene while you're there? *Ü*

Holy guacamole DebB, those look A-MAZ-ING!!!
Christina - I think you could process the fresh coconut with dates, almonds, lemon, ginger and vanilla and chill for a nice lemon-ginger bar. Maybe even portion them and then freeze them so they will gradually thaw - depending on how long long your trip is....
Have fun!!! Hope you get to visit some of LA's fab raw restaurants!!:)
Thanks rawviveyourself! They were tasty, that's for sure.
christinajade ~ I wanted to say that's such a beautiful new picture! Look at your glowing skin - you look great! *Ü*

Christina, you really need to go get yourself some dates as they're so indispensable in so many preparations. Taking what rawviveyourself said further, if you want to "sex it up a bit" instead of lemon you may substitute orange or any other citrus fruit or pineapple.
Love your new avatar also, have you finally given up on the hair dyes? I think you look better in your natural color.http://smileyjungle.com/smilies/love6.gif (http://smileyjungle.com)
DebB, to answer your question from the deleted bra thread (I DO notice you're still having posting issues:(), hit the "quote" button from inside of the post you want to quote, instead of the "post reply" button at the bottom of the thread. Easy as (raw)pie!

Oops! I guess I didn't proof read that post. I deleted the quote as I messed it up real nice. That was my attempt at paring down a quote. I was able to do yours successfully this time.
Okay - I know about hitting the quote button within the post I'm wanting to quote - what I don't know how to do is how to post multiple quotes in one posting like you do. I'd sure appreciate knowing how you do that - thanks in advance! :D

DebB, I'll send you an email later with more details as I wish to refrain from turning this thread into an IT training class.

Dimond, thanks for the tip! I just bought a whole bunch of dates.
DebB, those sound delicious! And thanks for the pic comment!
rawviveyourself, those are definitely the flavors I'm going for. Since my flight leaves on Friday, I'll make these tonight and freeze. This way they will be ready for thawing/eating on the plane!
Rawcstacy, I actually had highlights back then but no more. I figured you would like the more natural look. :)
You know how your body starts to crave/want certain flavors and raw food items? Well lately mine has been cinnamon and ginger. In the mornings I'm on this smoothie kick: almond milk, frozen banana, spinach, and a ton of cinnamon. I made this same drink for my SAD eating mom and she liked it but was almost overwhelmed with the cinnamon! For snacks and stuff, I've been adding ginger because that is what my body is telling me. I'm just so amazed at how we become so in tune with our bodies! So many signs of what we should and shouldn't eat that were ignored when I was eating SAD.
Thanks again guys!!
