View Full Version : April 6th-Day 6
Hello! Flying high today. We went from late winter to autumn to spring to summer in less than a month here in Baltimore. Today it's supposed to be 85 degrees. I don't care, just bring on the juicy fruits! I can't wait because seasonal fruits taste a lot better than buying say, a mini watermelon from Chile.
Today I made Storm's taboulie and lemme tell ya, it's really good. I only made a little bit but am thinking I may go back and make a huge batch. Next time I'll soak, take the skins off, then dehydrate my almonds vs just soaking then grinding them. It was more difficult with them being wet when grinding, but it still worked. It's quite tasty! I substituted carrots for the tomatos though. I also made a nice salad with fixings with Ani Phyo's curry dressing that needs to be finished off, fruit and ginger snaps (found raw at WF's...I'm hooked and am going to try and make them on my own when I find the time..talk about a nice kick and assistance with my digestion). I have an avocado to top it all off. I think that'll be enough for during the day. Last night I had a HUGE Brazil nut, banana, blueberry smoothie. YUMMO! I love having them before bed but it doesn't help with running to the bathroom during the night.
Have a great raw day! I'm looking forward to reading everyone's posts. :D

I need to eat more or heavier because I keep on loosing weight..I am down to 138.8 lbs at 6' tall..I have lost 15.1 lbs in 50 days..as this is my 51st day 100% raw. I eat tons of nuts daily and almost everyday I eat avocado. Many greens, including one smoothie and anywhere from 3-7 fruits a day as snack..what else should I do? I like my weightloss, but my mother will freak out..you see, I was anorexic as a teenager and she doesn't believe I know how to take care of myself..if you know what I mean.

Hello Raw Fooders. Today is day 6 of the Monthly Raw Food Challenge and things are going well. For breakfast I am having a chocolate ganache pie w/ cashew cream sauce from One Lucky Duck. Raw food is pretty cool - I eat sundaes and chocolate every day and still lose weight :0)
Tonight, we are having one of Katy's friends over for dinner, so we're going to make some raw foods. I think this is what we'll be having:
* cheese/cracker plate
* greek salad
* curried plantains
* butternut squash noodles w/ curry sauce
* avocado mousse (this is really good)
Hope you all have a great day!!

B: 24 oz green smoothie (frozen mango/big handfuls of spinach/water)
L: 3 bananas
S: raw granola and red peppers

Basenjimamma -nothing like enjoying life with one's family. Interesting that you are losing weight even with tons of nuts. I'll be watching you :eek: - because I am trying so hard to lose weight and am trying to figure out which things will help me to do this best. You are welcome to some of mine (weight, that is):D

madeleinegreen- we ARE doing it - each one in our own best way. Hope you have a happy, healthy day.:)
Now, that isn't something I can promise I'll do regularly - comment on all your posts - I don't always take the time. But I sure am in this with you and love you all.

Hey Zuri,
I'm with you on the seasonal fruits and veggies. I'm so looking forward to my first summer raw - it's gonna shed a whole new light on produce!
Basenjimamma - Have fun with your mom! My parents are coming out from Missouri on Friday. I'm going to try to get my mom to eat raw for the week with us. My dad would sooner jump in front of a bus I'm sure but my mom is raw-curious.
Aspirant and I went to Pure Food & Wine last night. I debated a glass of wine, it being raw and all, but realized I really wanted a virgin cocktail and they don't seem to have any on the menu so stuck with water. I'm liking how cleaned out I'm feeling and didn't want the wine messing with that.
We got this cheese and cracker plate there last night. I can't believe how much the cheese tasted like... um, CHEESE! It was Dr. Cow's cheese and it was amazing. The ravioli was good too but not quite as good as I remembered it. And then Aspirant got this tamale that was kind of gross. I tried making a raw polenta last fall and this had a similar flavor--the flavor being kind of rotten and vomity. Not my fav.
One Lucky Duck next door has these linzer tort cookies that are my favorites though. So good. That was dessert.
After we got home from there we were going to use our sprouted barley to mix up and start dehydrating the meatloaf so it would be ready for dinner tonight. Only when we unpacked our stuff from upstate we realized we'd forgotten the sprouted barley. Doh! I was so looking forward to it. Rats.
Been munching on some grapes and strawberries that I had left in the fridge here at the office since last week. I'll have to go out and get a smoothie or something later.
Ah, If only I had some Dr. Cow cheese here. I love cheese. It's the hardest thing for me to give up. So thank you Dr. Cow from potentially saving my life from ruin. Once we figure out where to get it, it's going on the weekly shopping list. Even if it bankrupts us.

If you can or feel inclined, check out some of Matt Monarch's information on losing and gaining weight while eating raw. He cites his sources and has really come up with some pretty sound information and reasoning in my opinion. He can explain it far better than I can and has free articles on his website and also sends new articles in his newsletter that I find quite interesting with a different spin. He sells a lot of products and after you weed through some of that and get to the gist of what his beliefs it's good.
I just think your body is still cleansing and acclimating to eating raw and you'll stop losing. I don't know when though!
katy - great choice with the wine. it could have hit you and made you feel a way you didnt want to feel and that cheese sounds DIVINE. dairy was/is a big one, esp cheese, for me too.
isle -thanks for the kind words

Well, I have lost about a pound a day so far. I assume it will plateau and slow down sometime in this, my first raw month, but it sure seems easy so far. (...Well, I DO have a lot to lose, so maybe it won't slow down!)
Still enjoying my improved mood, but have yet to see improved energy--hopefully that means cleansing continues...
B-Green smoothie--Swiss chard, banana, strawberries, spirulina
S-nuts/raisins, banana, avocado
L-Juice--celery, cucumber, beet, carrot, ginger
S-store bought raw bar
D-Pina Colada--Banana, pineapple, virgin coconut oil, coconut flakes

Zuri, thanks for that info on Matt Monarch.
I will definitely check into it.
I don't mind the weightloss, but I am getting tired of all the not so positive, "more than likely jealous" comments on my weightloss and how I am not eating correctly, typical SAD people..my husband supports me 135% so this is mainly coming from friends and acquaintances.

Well, that puts a different spin on things. I've had a few people tell me, after fallling off raw and not eating well for a while that they like me at the higher weight. Jealous is right. People don't want to see that outer shell come off 'cause then they are faced with looking at their own short comings. If you like it, your husband likes it and you're healthy that's all that matters. I'm 5 ft 9 in and know that going below 152 lbs is too skinny for me. You know your body better than anyone else. When your mother sees you fixing your raw meals and how much you eat, won't she think differently?

ok RAW foodies you know I'm usually last, off and running to Disneyland today with my daughter and her 2 friends:cool:, I went fully prepared with my last GORAW spirulina bar, larabars, apple, banana and my mock chicken salad with raw crackers, baby carrots and my H2O. Normally I would have kealed (sp?) over after 3-4 hrs but went a solid 8 and I still wasnt dying, just wanted to quit while I was ahead. And then I had a salad (lettuce /cukes /tomatoes) for dinner. Its 10 here now and I am ready for mimi's (short spanish for sleep).

Brekkie - green smoothie, kale, spinach, frozen banana and 2 medjools
Lunch - muesli and nut milk
Ended up having a cooked dinner because I got too hungry...I must be aware of this in future. I didn't 'overeat' or binge, that is my only saving grace (as I once would have done) but I must use this experience to learn. I am not going to beat myself up... just get back on the wagon.

I just didn't feel like spending time on food on day 6 so I pretty much ate only apples and banana ice cream all day. I have found that as I get farther along on this lifestyle that my appetite reduces quite a bit and on some days I am not that hungry. I figure it has something to do with the loss of my severe cravings for junky food and the increased amount of nutrients I am getting every day.
