Where do you get the calcium from if you do not eat any milk or cheese?

As posted by member, Caramba (focus on the raw sources and not the cooked/boiled/baked ones ;) ):

For anyone concerned or curious about the amount of calcium they or their kids are getting...I found this list & found it interesting & helpful.

Calcium is not gotten from dairy products. We, as many other natural vegetarians do, get it mostly from greens although many other fruits and vegetables have it. Thing is, most of us have been "brainwashed" through all the advertising from the dairy industry to believe we get it from their products.

Studies have shown that the protein in dairy products makes it unusable to our bodies. IF dairy really provided calcium as claimed then older women who have been drinking milk (my mother included) all their lives would not be having as many hip fractures as they have.

Many of us have found that green smoothies are the way to go. They are made so simply with green and fruits; taste good also and do not create the mucus and allergies dairy has a tendancy to do.

Welcome to the forums raw? :)

I make sesame milk (like almond milk, but from sesame seeds)
and eat lots of dark leafy greens.

Grind couple table spoons of raw sesame seeds in your salads.

So true. The country with the highest milk consumption is also the country with the highest cases of osteoporosis.

I just got blood work back after 3.5 months raw. I'm not a big greens eater or broccolli. I do eat some of the other things on Rawkinloc's list, but I eat primarily fruit. My blood calcium levels were all within a SAD range. No deficiency from not drinking milk or eating cheese. Actually since I was vegan for 3 months before going raw, that is 6.5 months without dairy and still no deficiency.
