Hi folks,

I'm new here. Not much to say....

I'm here to try and get some ideas to eat better. Trouble is, I don't like 99% of all fruit/veggies. :(

Hey there noob, I mean pnj!

Hmmm.. 99% of all fruit and veg you say, that sucks!

Well, all I can say is that your tastes do change, for some the change os rather dramatic. It might be that your diet has been unhealthy to the point that you've lost that instinctive need for fresh fruit and veg and greens.

Try and stick with it, no dramatics meant, but this could be the single most powerful health change you ever make in your life!

Welcome!

Hi noob.....eat what you DO like, start there and even in a week things can change. Tastebuds change all over the place.

Try a water fast for a week, once begin eating again, your taste buds will have dramatically changed.

My issues with not liking foods is mental. It's a phobia. Most foods I haven't even put in my mouth. My brain won't let me...:(

I could throw up just thinking about zuchini.

I've been fighting this for the last 15 years or so. I used to eat only meat, cheese and bread. I now only eat meat when I eat out, which is very rare.

The list of foods I do eat has changed a lot in the last few years.

I used to get really sick from just lettece. I've walked out of resturants so I could throw up and go back to finish my meal.

W-A-T-E-R--F-A-S-T , perhaps you need to go longer than a week, say about a month, but you really need to clean yourself out. Phobias CAN be overcome, so STOP eating and start drinking water. Without further knowledge of your situation, this approach is your best option.

What is on the list of the 1% you do like?

I ask because mine is probably oppsoite. I think I like 99% with the 1% being weird lettuces that are spicy and arugula tasting. Everything else I can work with.

I would love to go to foreign places and taste fruits available in only those locations.

That is definitely one of them. I love to watch Bizarre Foods and see all those things they cook and find in stores...most of them are typical to the region and so commonly eaten, yet, I have never heard of some of them.

Lychee is one of my favorites that I eat and people have no clue about it.
Then again, I have been eating jicima for years and years and people around me are just now catching onto how good it is. I'm always the one that does the international stuff at restaurants and Vegas. If it wasn't my love of teaching I would have been a chef; that is why I love having new methods of food prep to try out once summer hits and I have the time to play.

You have to start somewhere. Just eat what you do like. Your taste may change.

Does anyone else see it being recco to fast or only drink water when there appears to be some sort of disordered eating? Hmmm not sure this is the answer folks.

Problems of this nature might need therapy not a recco to avoid food altogether?

If she was saying she is so toxic it makes her sick. She si saying it is a mental challenge, a phobia. It might be a serious thing to pass off as something to swish out with a water fast and avoid food MORE.

Note:fasting is awesome in certain situations/reasons. This just dont appear to be one of these.

I love Denise M latest blog.

Here is WHEN she recco cleansing....

only on your first few days or weeks of eating a raw food diet
• experiencing frequent mucus and phlegm
• having periods of feeling awesome, interspersed with heavy-duty detox episodes (headaches, the sudden desire to sleep for two days straight, wild cravings for junk food, flu-like symptoms)
• randomly smelling or tasting foods or medicine you consumed during childhood
• observing a resurfacing of symptoms you had much earlier in life (such as sudden, inexplicable pain in that toe you broke 17 years ago)
• experiencing acne outbreaks*

Here is her link. It talks about when to cleanse and when to rebuild.

This may feel OFF suject yet it seems applicable here. For someone experiencing food phobias, cleansing or fasting doesnt seem to be the remedy ay?

As pnj is a "noob" a fast is quite appropriate in this case. Note that DeniseM suggusts also - "only on your first few days or weeks of eating a raw food diet" - that's the situation here, is it not? Fasting USUALLY does change one's taste so that food which previously tasted repulsive no longer is so. If the phobia/aversion persists, then of course I WOULDN'T recommend fasting again, as it would indeed deplete you nutritionally.

Before trying psychological counselling, EFT (Emotional Freedom Training) would be another modality to check out.
