Day 4 and raring to go!!! No Easter eggs for me today, though perhaps a little bit of raw chocolate later on?!
Okay, so I'll start things off today... I feel a bit rude, but I can't wait to get going and I'm in the UK, so timewise, I'm ahead of a lot of you guys LOL!
Brekkie - green smoothie with spinach, 2 medjool dates, 2 frozen bananas and some coconut oil
Snack - RAW CHOCOLATE YUM!
Lunch - Little gem lettuce, cherry tomatoes, red and orange peppers, raw crackers and sunny pate
Dinner - muesli with nut milk
(I've prepared it all already, not much left in the house and no shops open because of Easter so this IS my menu for the day!)
Have fun all... another great day!

How is the green smoothie with pineapple? I'm pretty picky on my green smoothies and so far the only combo I really like is apple, banana, mango and kale or spinach. But pineapple sounds good. May have to try that today.
I'm up and kind of hungry. We have some bananas, mango, pineapple, and papaya here so I might make a little tropical fruit salad for breakfast.
I don't know what we've got in the house for meals after that and it hadn't occurred to me until now that stores are going to be closed today.
I'm starting to think my headache yesterday was just dehydration - I realized I didn't drink much water throughout the day and we went on that long bike ride on Friday so that would make sense.
Off to hydrate and make some breakfast.
Happy Easter all!

HAPPY EASTER!!!!!
So far I've had a bowl of grapes & a pear then some blueberries & grapes!
Brunch is @ Casa so I will be "indulging" in the fruit buffet portion!!!!! Later will be more fruit & veggies @ my parent's house.
Thanks again guys! This really helps out to have everyone's support. Thinking about the SAD food isn't even tempting!!!!

Happy Easter everyone! A time for new beginnings, and that's what we're doing here, right?
Today will be a tough one for me. I have to cook Easter dinner for my family. This has been THE BIGGEST challenge for me over the years. Not Easter dinner, but cooking for the rest of my family on a daily basis. My daughter and I have been vegetarian for years and recently vegan, (not my son and soon to be ex) but still....too much Morningstar Farms, pasta and rice. Oh and the wine....they'll be having wine. Sigh.
I feel really guilty asking them to go out to eat, or ask someone else to cook. My house is the go-to holiday house, but then I start arguing with myself that this is about my health and I should speak up. Well, too late to change things this year.
How are you all handling this? I'd appreciate any tips.
Planned menu: (for me)
Green smoothie
Bananas
Watermelon soup (not in season, but hopefully good)
Green salad with mock salmon pate
Fruit or smoothie
Large green salad
The grace of God to get through dinner without falling off the wagon - so to speak.

goober...love your signature...
susan...i changed the menu up a little today for the family with BBQ in the crockpot so i don't have to touch the meat. of course amazing salad for all. you won't miss the sluggish after dinner feeling this year and that's a huge plus.
katy...pineapple is wonderful in a smoothie with greens, banana, ice, and mixed frozen fruit from Costco. i have been eating grapefruit, banana, greens and ice...fabulous.
blessed Easter to all. we are lucky to share this journey together.

Hello to everyone and Happy Easter as well :)
yesterday was a smoothie, veggie crackers and hummus, a couple of bananas with almond butter and some of the salad I made for today's dinner that is going to be held at one my sisters place, kind of day.
I was asked to bring a potato salad that I make that everyone loves and I decided to bring a raw dish too. I was going to make a hummus dip but forgot to buy the chickpeas, so ended up making a beet salad, grated red cabbage, grated carrots, grated beets and a dressing made with oil, lemon and raw honey. The dressing is sweet and tart at the same time:)
I started today with a smoothie, and I am bringing a papaya with me today (thanks for all the comments about the seeds :)) and I will eat the raw salad too. My sister is looking into raw foods as well, and I told her about this forum, so I am going to bring her Alissa's book and a few others for her to read.
About headaches, I remember reading that sunflower seeds, almonds and cashews might help with these.
PS: everyone who tried the raw salad loved it!

Oh yum! I just made my green smoothie with about 1/2 a pineapple, 2 pears, and a small head of kale. It was so good. I thought I was tired of green smoothies in general but I think I was just tired of using the same old recipe. I'd never thought of pineapple till I kept seeing it in other people's recipes. It was so so good. Thanks all for the tip. Now I don't have to struggle with what to do when I can't find a ripe mango (can't stand my apple banana kale smoothies without a mango for texture).
So far today I've had:
b: a strawberry, papaya, mango, banana fruit salad
s: chocolate almond milk
s2: a few rosemary flax crackers with salsa and guac
l: pineapple pear green smoothie
next: curried plantains and a chocolate coconut shake?
I'm craving something heavier though. Feeling a little fruity.
I'm really dreading heading back to the city tonight and having to go back to work. I noticed this dread the last time I tried eating raw, too. Anybody else experiencing it? I think maybe it's just feeling like eating raw is such a big thing in and of itself that piling work on top of it borders on too much to handle right now. I need a serious stay-cation where I can just focus on making raw foods for a week or so. I like my job but I seriously want to cry about having to go to the office tomorrow.
Happy Easter Sunday all!
My first raw Easter. :)
Started the day with a green smoothie: spinach, orange, banana, frozen cherries, maca, ground flax, and green supplement.
Then had several handfuls of sprouted pumpkin seeds, as I was feeling low on iron and wanted a boost.
Also had some yerba mate tea. I hadn't had caffeine in a while, but was feeling the need for a little pick-me-up so I wasn't tired at the family gathering.
Brought a kickass vege tray to the family easter brunch: (all organic, with the exception of one avocado for the dip) celery, carrots, cucumber, red pepper, and broccoli... along with Alissa's onion dip and indian spinach dip. I pretty much was the only one who ate it, and that was what I had for my meal. It was so satiating... and I went back for seconds. The indian spinach dip wasn't as good as it's been in the past though, but overall I was happy.
I also brought some dates stuffed with almond butter to snack on for dessert. I devoured all 8 of them, no one else expressed any interest.
Tonight might be more veges and the leftover dips. May whip up another coconut milk too.
Good day!
*** back to add: I made the best drink I've had thus far: Young coconut milk and frozen mango. OMG. Out of this world. I later went back and made another, added banana this time. *falls over*

Wow—Some extravagence going on today.
Joya—All that nice raw food, and no one else wanted it? I definitely would’ve been hovering around your creations, if I were there.
Katy—I lived in the city for years. I really feel for you! Perhaps the time is coming for a permanent exodus from the city for you? I am at home at the moment, setting up a work-from-home situation, so that is definitely making this raw journey easier.
…I was ‘fortunate’ to not have family holiday stuff to deal with today (except for the neighbor who brought over some baklava she had just made—I mean, what was I supposed to do?)
I found the lone grocery store that was open was the Wegman’s, where I had a salad from their salad bar. I did have a few pieces of tofu, and some olives that probably weren’t raw. I browsed their rather sizeable health food section, and was pleasantly surprised to find a snack bar—Raw Organic Food Bar brand—even though it says 80% raw. Also, there was a brand of 100% raw, organic stuff by Go Raw, including some live bars, with sprouted seeds, and large bags of sprouted seeds for snacking, and some sprouted granola. Very cool.

A quiet day to recoup was what I had. I must have had too much food yesterday, or some poor combinations - maybe the asparagus was too much. Anyway, it too far too long to digest and was a bit uncomfortable.
So this morning I began with a "Best Raw Coffee Ever". That's the smoothie with banana and cacao, ice and water. That's about all I had in it, if I remember right.
Then I immediately felt exhausted.
Lunch: a green smoothie: pineapple, organic cucumber - cold!
Supper: a very ordinary salad - nothing special.
I really took it easy on the food today and I already feel much better.
katy - isn't pineapple great?! Glad you know about it now for your smoothies. Sorry you are feeling a bit overwhelmed re work, citylife, and the shift to raw. As they often told me here: "baby steps". I have felt like saying "stop the world - I want to get off!" That's why I took a sort of mini-vacation all week this week. Basically I just took care of me!

Really, we aren't supposed to discuss any slip ups that may happen. It may seem witchy, but those are the rules. How I miss Rawkinlocs and her challenge thread intro..
You can discuss slip ups on the main forum or on your blog--but you can see how you might influence others to deviate from the challenge if they respect you... well if soandso had a little slice of ____ then why shouldnt I?
That being said I sooo understand, but please, this is hard enough without having implied permission to cheat..
anyway..
huge 3 man portion of chocolate cheesecake=)
raw chocolate bunny ( way too rich and dark for me, but nice to have anyway)
tacos
ani phyo's strawberry cream cheesecake---ooooo I am definately making this cream cheese to go on contessa's bagels
Happy Eostre=)

Hi All, logging in kinda late cause it was a busy day.
B - larabar (which btw I always have 32 oz h20 with but forget to mention)
L - fruit salad left over from yesterday but still dee-lish
S - Banana and more h20
D - green salad with homemade dressing and flax crackers
Went to another b-b-q and this time didnt take anything and of course nobody brought a yummy green salad like yesterday BUT I did not give in. Everyone around me was chowing down and I was happily drinking my H2O and a friend said "hey why arent you eating?" so loud I thought it embarrassing, for him, and just I said I was fine, not to hungry. WELL another friend jumped in and proudly said "she doesnt eat food like this, she eats healthy", I beamed like a little ray of sunshine, people notice.
My husband has high blood pressure, high cholesterol and his diabetes is causing numerous health issues(eyes, liver, edema, etc...) and is willing to try eating more RAW foods although I wish he would take the challenge more RAW is better then none.
So any suggestions for RAW cacao nibs besides nibbling on them? Is that what any of you use for your smoothies or do you prefer powder? I dont mind nibbling but looking for options.
BTW love all the colors:D

I did it! I went to an Easter dinner and just ate the raw food I brought. I don't write the ingredients of everything I eat or even the entire menu like everyone else. I hope that is ok but, it is enough for me to find time to post.
My sister and I made ice cream sandwiches for breakfast and then I alternated between eating a smoothy I brought with me and some dried apples and sunflower seeds the rest of the day. We stopped at Safeway on the way home for something to eat - some veggies and bannanas from the produce section.
Today is officially day 15 of 100% raw in a row and everyday from now on will be the longest I have been 100% raw! Yeah!:D
