I've read somewhere that eating snacks is bad and we sould only eat at meals - I think this is not good if you want to lose weight. What do you think?
ALSO
what is the best no NO FAT raw food to feel full for the longest time?
WHat do you think of Wheatgrass juice?
I have started fasting 1 day a week - is this bad for weight loss?
the benefits are great for cleansing, but will my metaboloism slow down - thus, storing fat??
thanx

I eat when I'm hungry.

I think I read in Raw Power that if you eat when you're hungry and until you're full, then the body assumes food is plentiful and you'll lose weight. Conversely, eating less often and not eating until you're full tells your body food is scarce and it tries to converse as much as possible, so weight loss will be minimalized and slower.

Grains work best for me. I think this answer is different for everyone.

Hi :),

The best no-fat foods for feeling full the longest are very fiberous foods -- broccoli and green leaves come to mind -- lots of others though, such as peas and corn.
Fiberous fruits as well, such as grapes are very satiating for long periods of time.

Have you ever heard the advice to fill up on salad or vegetables before a meal? This is a strategy to consume less overall calories: fresh (raw are best and most filling) vegetables have little calories and lots of bulk.

I would advise chewing vegetables instead of, say, making lots of emulsions, smoothies, or soups out of them. This adds to the satiety and the comfort; as well, you don't want to eat food that has been partially broken down already, as you will consume more that way.
You can still make green smoothies, however; especially if you have a hard time consuming leafy greens. :) They will really nourish you with minerals and protein while you lose weight.

Treat yourself well!

Best,
:)

It is better to eat smaller, more frequent snacks, then 3 larger meals.
I fast every Friday for spiritual reasons, and I know Todd fasts weekly also. I havent at all noticed a halt in my progress from that.
Todd's journal is tglasco if you want to read about his fasts.

Bananas keep me full for a long time!

Blessings to you on your journey to health

I can share my experiences with weight loss on raw... I'm a grazer... old habits die hard. I used to constantly over eat (my cooked vegetarian diet w/plenty o' junk). I know if I feel deprieved, I'll risk falling back, so I allow myself to snack frequently. That being said, on raw, I feel satisfied much longer and often times have to remind myself to eat because I've gone several hours without food.

I do eat fats, coconut oil, hemp oil, nuts, avocados, and I've been dropping weight beyond my wildest dreams. Most days 1/2 - 1 pound each and every day. Your body does NEED healthy fats to function properly, and I even feel it contributes to keeping my metabolism humming.

I've never fasted, primarily because I'd be concerned it would slow down the burn. Never researched it much either... so I don't know there.

I use hemp protein powder in my morning fruit smoothie and that keeps me satisfied a good, long time. And a nice big salad (although I use a little hemp oil on that, with apple cider vinegar) gets me stuffed.

Good luck finding the answers that are right for your body. One thing I found is that I shouldn't complicate things. This way of eating is really very easy.
