Hi. I've certainly known about the raw concept for years, but I guess I just didn't feel the desire to overcome my addiction to the S.A.D. enough to commit to it. I've always just counted on my inherent good health to carry me through. However, these last few years I've started to accumulate minor health annoyances, as well as put on enough unpleasant weight, such that my mental scale seems to have tipped and I now feel determined to take control of my health and appearance with this raw lifestyle.

I look forward to dropping a lot of weight, seeing improvements in my mood and outlook, improvements in my skin, improvements in my energy level, and any of the other bounty of positive effects that people have reported after going raw.

I hope to make great use of this site as I embark in this new era. Thanks to all who contribute here. I've already utilized great tips and recipes I've seen here, over the last few days.

Pain is a great motivator. I've known about raw all my life but I had to hit bottom with my health before I got the incentive to change! Welcome :)

Hi- Thanks for the welcome. I've had flu-like symptoms for a few days, and it just made me throw down the gauntlet and take charge of myself.

I can no longer ignore just how bad the 'food' is that is offered by corporate America, that their moral compass is for the most part nonexistent, and that there is absolutely no concern for consumers. We are truly just a herd of animals being fattened for slaughter, in their eyes.

It is hard for normal, trusting, decent people to come to grips with the reality of the food industry, and realize that you really do have to jump out of the fishbowl, as it were, and take complete control of yourself.

Once your eyes are open, then the concept of eating raw seems the obvious decision.

If you think that's challenging, just wait till you try to fathom the medical "industry"

I prefer to think of it as escaping the "matrix", so take the red, I mean the raw pill.

Yes, it indeed seems a friendly, reasonable place. I'd guess that the type of person who makes this choice is in general a more independent thinker, and this contributes to the more advanced feel of things here.

Raw Stacy... I'm with you. There is so much darkness behind the scenes of existence. If people knew the truth of this world, I think they'd literally go insane.

I saw Food, Inc. recently. It's a good one to show the more conventional folks who have less of a clue about what's going on.

For your edification: raw + ecstasy = rawcstasy, unfortunately I wasn't careful registering and made a typo and apparently you can't change usernames anymore. So when you eat raw you don't just live in a state of ecstasy you live in a state of "rawcstasy". I was quite rawcstatic until you called me "stacy"

Don't mind her, New Me, I think she accidentally ate some microwaved foodhttp://smileyjungle.com/smilies/foodanddrink12.gif (http://smileyjungle.com), or perhaps is coming off an insulin spike(too many raw caramel squares will do that). In any case she is deserving of our love and care.

I think that this rant is a form of therapy for you, therefore if it helps in your recovery, carry on, I've no objections. Whatever heals you. Of course Thai vacations ARE quite healing also, look into it.http://smileyjungle.com/smilies/smiling23.gif (http://smileyjungle.com)

No problem Stanley! Role-playing is known to be therapeutic for some. Hoping for your rapid recovery soon.

Cool, I love pretending I'm a guy! On some forums they seem to automatically THINK I am one, perhaps it's my mannish way of expressing myself, lol!

Or it could be the fact that I often post a pic of Bruce Campbell as my avatar! :D I'd be honored to actually be Mr Chin!

Keep trying Stacy darls, I'm so laid back I'd win limbo contests!
