Hi...I cracked open a young coconut this morning and the juice and meat have a brownish tint. I know it is usually white and the juice is clear...this coconut doesn't smell or taste bad at all, but is it still okay to eat/drink??

Thanks,
Bretta

The only tint I've seen in a young cocnut is pink . It's a matter of preference whether or not to use, some people think it's not as sweet. I've heard some say the tint means they're bad and other people say it means the coconut is very young. I know when we get a pink one, there isn't as much meat.

Hope this helps.

I've heard if they are white and sweet they are ripe and ready to eat,
Pink is over ripe, and turning bad, never saw a brown one, but I wouldn't eat it.
