Why do you want to eat meat. If veg are nicer and healthier and make you feel better (which they do) why would you want to make your body deal with meat.

Eating raw is simply eating fruits, vegetable, nuts (soaked), and some grains (optional) in their natural state and never heated above 115-118 degrees. There is no meat eating at all in the raw food diet. eating meat these days has been directly linked to all sorts of diseases, intestinal disorders. Meat also takes a long time to digest in the body and sometimes ferments in your intestines...many of the people yo see today with big "bellies" have fermented meat (along with eating other foods that are not good for them) just trapped in the intestines. Stick with the fruits and vegies...just don't cook them and you'll be Irie!!

What I'd like to know is how do you know you're in "perfect" health? And...do you think that eating meat is always going to keep you "perfectly" healthy all your life? Studies have shown that if eating a balanced vegetarian meal, most live longer than meat eaters so I can only imagine how much healther raw vegans are..:D

Why do I want to eat meat? Because ive eaten meaten ever since I was a child and I like the taste of it, but I prefer veggies over meat most of the time anyways. Meat is alright, but the only meat that I Love, is usually CHicken or Fish...I dont eat steak much and I rarely ever eat pork, too much fat.. so I prefer Chicken or Fish, Or Sushi.
But Nothing is better than a nice crisp salad, DELISH.
Oh and Im a Baker and I dont take any ANY Shortcuts...

In a word: ENZYMES
Enzymes die when the temperature reaches 45-48 C
Cooked food is no longer food, it's dead, lifeless. It still has energy available, but much else, that's why everyone it seems is overweight or sick.

There are so many wonderful things you can make!! Some people like myself, enjoy the more simpler way of eating. I do have the occational stuff on hand, like my raw corn chips, cheese itz, granola. I make these in bulk as well as my daily almond milk. Which reminds me..I took my corn chips, cheese itz and the awesome cinnamon buns with me to a SAD event last night and everyone was asking, "are you sure this stuff is raw?" I couldn't believe how impressed everyone was!!:D

You have to learn to crawl before you learn to walk. You have to learn to walk before you can run.
Glad to hear that you are gung-ho to start into the raw life style. The more that you can eat raw....the better for your body. Even if you don't go into it 100% to begin with...your body is going to benefit. Just remember, you are only acountable to yourself. And....welcome.:)

Well, if you're really serious about going raw, you're in the right place and you will get lots of support and encouragement from everyone here! Just start with one meal at a time...Breakfast...Fresh cut fruit or a green smoothie...Then move on to lunch...You'll find lots of great recipies here too...Best of all, order Alissa's book and video and spend some time reading and learning about the raw foods lifestyle...One meal at a time and one day at a time. Really think about what you're eating and putting into your body...You're getting such a strong reaction from everyone only because they know what's on the other side of really eating raw, living foods full of nutrients...True health and well-being...Take the 30 day raw food challenge and see how you feel at the end...

Even if you can't go 100% raw initially, first you should stop eating ANY sugar and chocolate. I from personal experience what powerful stimulants they are and how quickly they steer you away from real food.

DON'T buy packaged fruit juices. Get a juicer instead. Try a garage sale or flea market. You can probably get a second-hand blender AND a juicer for $20 if you go to a few.

The further you go into this the less you want the dead food. Your body wants that living food. It's telling you that bbq chicken isn't what it needs. Which is great.

If you REALLY want to know all the in's and out's of a raw and living food lifestyle.....read Alissa's book and get her DVD along with it. It's a big book but a very easy read....there's no way you can fully know about this lifestyle by asking a few questions. Of course I understand if your not quite sure if your THAT interested yet.

Ahhh...there are so many other Kingstons in the world! I initially thought Kingston, Jamaica...but figured I would ask just on the off-chance that we might be neighbors. It's nice to know that there are other Raw Foodists close by. :)
And yes, do get Alissa's book and DVD. I have the book and it's a great source of information. :)
