I am a 50 year old retired shipbuilder who is currently attending her second year of college. In the last 5 years my health has declined and I have gained nearly 100 pounds.I am a mother of a soon to be 12 year old son and a 30 year old son as well. I have 2 just wonderful grandkids.I can't say that I am raw or vegan or anyone thing as of yet. I do know that I need to regain my health. approx. 5 years ago I quit smoking, was diagnosed with fibromyalgia,I have rosascea , even in my eyes. This is what lead me here. I have been on antibiotics for 5 years for my rosacea and with no suprise was not aware that it was torturing my liver. Hence, I now have been told I have fatty liver disease. I believe my answer is going to be found here , A renewed energy and life changing experience. to grow with. On feb 23 I bought a vitamix,I also ordered an excalibur dehydator online and it is still not here and another 8-10 days from arriving. (sadly I'm impatient).I have a juicer ...( wow what pulp, encouragement for a new mulch pile.)So here I am gaining the tools. I have watched two of alyssa'a raw video's, many or victoria's . david wolfe, and many others, have read 4 books that i have recently purchased, Sorry to say that I am so hungry for knowledge, that I dropped one of classes at college to allow me more time to research all this information.I must say I am going to have need alot of advice. I have been starting my days with green smoothies, eliminated meat thus far, I have started to take sam-e, b-12,omega 3 fishoil, and have bought a liver detox kit from the health store but havent dared to start taking it yet because i 'm not certain I should with a fatty liver. any clue? It is made by renew life.I checked my ph balance 2 weeks ago and it was almost solid yellow. I am not doing well with that at all. please please give me advice. I am 5'8 1/2 and was 287 2 weeks ago now i am 278.I welcome any and all advice. anyone in similar circumstances?I have to try to keep this geared at something palatable for a 12 yr old .lol...I will post pics soon.I live in midcoast maine.I welcome anyone to write. thanks and god bless Crystal

Welcome!! I came to raw foods for healing reasons too (though different) and always feel my best when I don't stray. I know there are women here with daughters about your age - check out "11 years Old and Raw" started by Aleesha. OnMyJourney has an 11 yo too - you might get some great ideas from them!
My very best to you on your journey :)

Hi Crystaljean :)
I remember when I first came across this way of eating, all the researching I did as well :) I loved it, it gave me an awareness of nutrition I did not have before.

Welcome Crystal,
When I started my RAW food journey, I was almost dead, in bed for 6 months, taking hand fulls of pills and a half dozen shots a day, I weighed 528 lbs and I honestly was just waiting for my heart to stop. I could not walk 5 meters to the Bathroom.
Since then my diabetes, heart disease, angina, gout, Celiac symptoms, rheumatoid arthritis, high blood presure, and about 25 other serious conditions have disapeared. Today I have no problem walking 5 Kilometers and I weigh 218 lbs less.
I still have 100 lbs to retire!
