Hi all. New here. I'm in my late 30s, live in NY. My parents (father was a chemist, mother a nurse) were ahead of their time in some regard back in the 70s espousing greens, wheat germ, live cultures, etc. Over the years I've eaten some good stuff (salads) and not so good stuff (fries and a burger), however two things have set me on the path of raw foods:

1) Mild Gastro issues. Seems as though I am gluten intolerant as well as have some very minor flare ups in my GI related to certain foods. Nothing severe liek Crohn's, but enough to send a wake up call.

2) Read a few books on "Green" eating, smoothies, etc. and was convinced, in addition to seeing people look much healthier who are juicers, etc.

So, I went out and bought a Blendtec blender. Lovin' it. I am NOT heavy at all, in fact I am fairly skinny at 5'10", 140 lbs, but I am sick and tird of feeding junk to my body. :)

I'm looking to compile about 10-20 fairly easy recipes I can keep handy in my kitchen. What are some good online resources? Thanks.

Welcome to the raw world..you will love it here.

Sounds like you are on the right path, smoothies is a good way to incorporate several whole, green foods into your diet without even knowing it :)

I would look under the recipes section here, great tips and recipes available. I also googled raw recipes and tons pull up..and of course I have Alissa's book..Living on Live foods..a must.

Congrats on your BlendTec..

Do yourself a BIG favor and get Alissa's book and DVD combination. The DVD will show you over 20 quick and easy recipes and the book will give you more than you hoped for. It sounds like I'm trying to sell her book but seriously it really is a great investment if your wanting to eat raw and living foods. Welcome to the forum.

I am also very new to the raw food diet. I found a lot of ideas in Alissa's book my favoirte one is taking a bannana, avacodo, and a small garlic clove and mixng them all in a blender. It is quick, very nutritious, and has a nice creamy texture. Through the resource section in her book I discover Glasser farms which sell a wide variety of raw spreads and crackers. Hope this helps, best wishes in your journey.
