I have a Blend Tec which makes great smoothies and blends really well. Haven't tried to make nut butters in it yet.
I've been craving sweets so last night I made the cherry ice cream in Everyday Raw minus the coconut oil because i didn't have any. I would give it a B+.
Today I'm making the cranberry scones in Victoria Boutenko's book. I find that if i have raw food snacks to munch on, it keeps me from getting really bad cravings.
The menu for today will be:
B: Green smoothie
L: Garden Burger
D: Flax crackers and a salad
Snacks: Banana and raw almond butter, raisins
side note: I had pneumonia about 5 years ago after having my daughter. Long story short, my placenta didn't come out, had emergency D and C and went into septic shock 2 weeks later. I've been coughing up a lot of mucous in the morning since starting green smoothies and wondering if my lungs are cleaning out.

It is very common, it seems, to be disapointed when you first get your vitamix. I was.. but now I am better aquainted with it. For nut butter, you have to use the long pusher and rotate it around like you are stirring.
Now I love my vitamix, if there was a fire I'd grab my kids & the vitamix=)
But, I've never had a blendtec--I am just so in love with the vm that I had to defend it=)

I agree it's very hard around free food. It's very hard around other eating food as well. My family had salmon and rice tonight while I had a vegie juice. Iam trying to stay all juice with a little chips and fresh homemade salsa for a night snack. A vegie burger would be great!!!

Wanted you to know, I left a msg for you in response to your inquiry, on the thread about what to do with 5 lbs of carrots. I wasn't able to access your visitor page where I could reply directly.
So banana the loaf must have turned out to be tasty...? :) I"d like to try it :)
Hi all,
Another day, another monthly challenge post.
I feel like I'm becoming a bit obsessive. I spend a lot of time on this forum all of a sudden. I've been to the Whole Foods almost every day (there's a mini one right down the street, and I'm on a learning curve of knowing how much to buy and what... so I'm a very frequent customer.) And I'm spending a lot of time thinking about raw food. Dug out Alissa's cds and watched them both over the past 2 days.
Alright, so food today:
Breakfast: smoothie - romaine, banana, orange, frozen mango, frozen blueberries, maca, and green supplement
Lunch/Dinner: whipped up a batch of Spinach Dip (avocado, spinach, tomato, curry, salt) and ate it ALL with numerous flax crackers. The flax crackers weren't bad. They were my first dehydrator recipe, and they came out pretty okay. But I am soooooooo full now. Overly full.
After Lunch/Dinner: was craving sweet, so had a few spoonfuls of raw honey with some bee pollen, and 3 dried apricots. Then popped a B12 under my tongue, cause that's sweet as well.
It's Day 21 for me! 3 weeks! :)
I feel good, but feel like I could feel better, if that makes any sense...
cheerio!

Mango
Vegetable crisps
Sun dried tomatoes
2 Bananas
Lots of water
Today I felt off of eating a bit, I think because I did not start the day with a smoothie!:) I am missing it now but will wait until tomorrow to make it. I am feeling too to begin a more regular time of eating.
michbrook, I am having similar symptoms as you, I know our bodies produce mucus all the time, but since I began raw again there seems to be a little more, moreso in the mornings when I wake up, my head feels a bit congested and I am having these little sneezing bouts throughout the day.

LOL :D
Now if you're a gemini too, we're really in trouble.

Sorry I haven't been a good poster! We've had some sickness around the house and my youngest had some no-no food shared with her at school and had an allergic reaction. So been a little busy lately.
I've been following and doing well as has my 15 year old (though she is still not completely raw yet as she is going through some detox and doesn't want it to get too bad while in school). Been drinking lots of smoothies and eating lots of oranges (which I just have a hankerin' for) and lots of salads in the evening. Keeping it simple works best for me so that's where I'm keeping it. I really think that if we took all the cooked out of the house that hardly anyone (except the oldest ones and hubby) would miss any of it.
I did get great news today... My youngest has been asking for oranges to be cut up for her snack to which I've been happy to comply. And we've talked about her allergies again and the importance of not eating certain foods, etc. well at the parent teacher conference this morning her teacher let me know that she chooses very healthy at lunch as she *always* without fail chooses the salads and has since the beginning of school. :D I was so filled with joy! I gave her lots of praises for her good choices when she got home!!
The 14 year old has been sick but is still moving right along making more raw choices and seems to really like it. She does choose some cooked foods more so than the 15 year old, but each of them are on their own path to raw and I'm allowing them that freedom. I'm sure it will get easier as summer approaches with all the yummy produce available.
The 11 year old is also making sure she eats a piece of fruit when she gets up, then about 30 min later (15 min before the bus gets there) she eats a cooked, though vegan, breakfast. She takes fruit for snack at school even though she rarely eats snack, she takes it with her at lunch too. She informed me that she eats so late in the day that the salads are disgusting by the time she gets there (cause she used to order them) that she can't stomach them anymore. I'm gonna see if she wants to start packing and taking her own. When she gets home, she eats another fruit for afterschool snack, and one for pre-game/practice fueling. For dinner she eats a large salad before she has anything else - and many times she is completely satisfied with just the large salad - sometimes two helpings - which is happening more and more often where she does not get any cooked.
The 9 year old boy is actually doing pretty well and he doesn't even realize what is happening. He did tell me last week that I don't buy any good snacks anymore (they were pretty heavy into granola bars) and the girls jumped on him and said fruit is good! But it's the only time I've heard him say anything - which generally means it isn't really bothering him, he was just bored and wanted the granola bar ... otherwise he hasn't noticed anything and just eats right along with us!
Sorry for the novel! Just wanted to update since I haven't been around to post!

I did it! i stayed raw even while i was surrounded by people eating free food. I just enjoyed the event (an art show) with everyone while slowly savoring my lara bar. no one noticed or cared, which is just fine and good.:)
Another success: when i got home, my roommates were eating ramen. I made a salad with winter greens, lemon, shoyu, sprouts, celery, pepper, and garlic. it was even more fragrant than the ramen and my roommates commented on how delicious it smelled.:)

I'm sorry for being a bad poster as well. I am doing good. I did have some fallbacks. We had company over for dinner and I blew it. I am back on the wagon now. My daughter (15) is also doing this with me for her health. My other 5 children eat as much raw as possible, financially speaking. They would eat all raw if we could afford it.
We are starting seeds today for our sq ft garden! Very excited! We hope to be able to start growing our own greens year round. Also we would love to have fruit trees and bushes!
Today we had warm lemon water for cleansing in the morning. Then a green smoothie. We will probably have an onion bread veggie sandwich for lunch and maybe angel hair pasta & sauce for dinner. We had that for dinner last night with company over. I made them spaghetti and we ate raw, it worked out great! I am craving "mounds" candy bars! I found a wonderul 99% raw recipe! I am out of coconut oil though so will have to see about that.
Look to the Lord!
