Wanted to introduce myself over here. Just signed up for the raw 30 day challenge and am excited to get started:)
I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism at 14 years old, I'm 36 now. This was shortly after a hepatitis B vaccine, but doctors insist it was not related. I have a long and sordid past with vaccine reactions, but probably way too much information to go into right now. Boy if I knew back then what I know now, what a difference it would have made in my life! I ended up having my thyroid removed at 18 by the insistence of my doctor. With a mouth full of mercury fillings, bad diet, being on the pill for a few years, by my late 20s I was a mess. I was very fatigued, which I thought was just working a lot. I still had acne flare ups and a little overweight. Looking back, I didn't realize how poor my health was compared to how great I feel now.
I had my first child when I was 28. My pregnancy was pretty unremarkable. Unfortunately my diet wasn't the best. Another if I knew then what I know now moment in my life! After I gave birth, I didn't produce milk, which was strange to me, but doctor told me that happens to some women.
My son was very intolerant of formula and had very bad reflux. I felt horrible because I really wanted to breastfeed, but couldn't. Coupled with all his mercury laden shots and his bowel issues, it's no wonder that shortly after his first birthday, he started to exhibit signs of autism. He had received 5 shots the month before with extremely high fevers, all supposedly normal according to my pediatrician. He went from babbling and saying mama and dada to losing all speech. Today he is 7 and is saying about 20 words. He is my main motivation for a raw, live food diet. To make a long story short, we tried almost every biomedical intervention out there for him, coupled with lots of speech, PT and OT. He has made great strides, but I've always felt there was a piece of the puzzle missing. Two years ago, he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. His father also has this. I was completely devastated. I changed his diet a little bit, but he was still primarily a meat eater. The dietician at the hospital told me the wonders of "diet" food, which I was smart enough to know was filled with aspartame.
The turning point for me was that he had 2 seizures this past January. I bought a Blendtec the next day and went full on into green smoothies and E3 Live supplements. He has been seizure free since then:), gaining some weight and healthier bowel movements!
Looking back, it's not hard to connect the dots that my toxic overload affected him and coupled with his own toxic overload from vaccinations, it just tipped the scales and created numerous problems that his little body couldn't handle.
I've been slowly working myself to go 100% raw and my kids get green smoothies every day. The most interesting change I've noticed about myself is my hair is not has gray as it was at the temples. Normally, after I color my hair, by 4 weeks out, I have very noticeable gray roots. Now I have about 60% less, and that's only after 2 months of smoothies and an 80-90% raw diet.:D
I'm still trying to find some more recipes for them that I can incorporate more living foods in their diets. My daughter is a fruit and veggie lover, so she does great. My son is very sensory and it's very hard to get him to try something. He likes crackers (gluten free) but the raw crackers I've made so far he hasn't liked too much.
My goal is to have him eating 50-60% raw by the end of March.
Wishing everyone good health and blessings,
Bridgette:)
