I'll get started by saying that I'd like to include more yoga into my week.
I teach yoga classes on Tuesday & Thursday - so I will get 1hr of movement in on those days, but I'm wanting/needing to take it up a notch.....:o
How about you?

I need to step it up too. I plan on doing yoga or Walk Away The Pounds 5 times a week (alternating workouts). Matter of fact, I need to get off my butt and do something right now...

My March goals are to become more regular about my yoga practice and to do longer sessions. I want to do 2 x 1 hour each weak, and 2 x 30 minutes. I also want to continue running 2-3 times a week (3 miles).

Monday 3/1/10
I just did about 10min or so of some gentle yoga: stretching, a couple sun salutes & more stretching. I was in a pretty stressed out mood before I decided to do this - I can say I feel 100% better after only doing that small amount of yoga.
I'm usually very structured when I "work out" - I feel like I need to do a dvd, or go to a class, change into my official "work out" attire, etc., etc.......
I'm stopping that right now.....
I am going to do SOMETHING, ANYTHING, EVERYDAY - even if it's only a couple stretches, because I will feel better - no doubt! ;)
Won't you join me?! (Some of you have already had this epiphany...Congratulations!!) :D

I'm back!!! My Body wants me to really kick things up a knotch... I've been sitting on my rear for hours a day in classrooms and by the evening when I get home, I just want to MOVE!!!
Greenie's March Exercise Goals
* Nightly Yoga... 10-30 minutes M - F
* Puppy Playtime... a few minutes every day playing fetch, tumble and pounce-the-carrot-stick with my little fur babies! Playing every evening with the rambunctious little guys has proven to be relaxing for me and happy time for them... they can't seem to get enough tackle-time! :D
* Yoga Class... once a week I will be attending a class session at the various Yoga studios in town. There are various free classes available at some of the Studios, which is lovely for this Student! :D I have two intentions with this new addition to my "regiment":
1) motivation of group Yoga to polish my style
2) learning more and more of the basics that are necessary for a healthy practice
A Request for Suggestions: I need recommendations for something light and invigorating I can do in the early morning (630am is early in my world, stop laughing Revvell ;)) to wake myself up and get my blood flowing early in the day! I currently have a huge mental block to getting up early every morning and yet at the same time, my Body is demanding regularity and deserves to have it.
Finally, I will make an effort to post here DAILY to stay accountable and also find encouragement and possibly glean ideas from you all's amazing exercise journeys, too!
With that being said, I think it's time for me to whip out my purple yoga mat and get my Vinyasa on!!! :D

1 hr. of intense, power yoga in a classroom so jammed full of sweaty young people that at times I couldn't breathe from the heat and intensity of the atmosphere!
I love these group Yoga sessions now that I've the knowledge and posturing to keep up!
But I think for the next few days I should resume doing quiet, gentle sessions at home... my knees and my sweat glands will thank me. :D

Doing something new this month ~
One movement, 100 times. Different day, different movement.
For instance I began this week with 100 squats with clubs.
Next day, 100 swings of the Bulgarian training bag.
Today, 100 get down-get ups.
Now, I may not do 100 each day but, that is the desired outcome.
For instance on Monday was the Bulgarian bags. I got in 60 swings BUT, then I went to class and got in 90 intense minutes with the Kali sticks.
Thursday morning I train with Coach Tara so I may not be able to do a full 100 of anything ... we'll see though... OR, I may have done part of what I want to do. I asked her to show me how to clean a kettlebell. If we do 10 on each side, that's 20 down and I'll only have 80 more to go (and, a lot of bruising to show for it).
Of course, the 100 is not ALL I'm doing. Been having LOTS of fun with the Kali sticks sooooo, spending time with them as well.

To wake up in the a.m. ~
Hunza breathing ~ spread feet about hip distance, bracing your core, reach arms up and out while leaning back, finger open. Inhale. As you come foreward, extend arms out, make hands into fists, cross at wrists, swing them down between legs as you exhale. Release the back of your neck.
Coming up, reach arms up to ears, pull hips in to bring you up, swing arms up, lean back, reaching out with open hands. Remember to brace your core by pulling up through the thighs, the sitz bones, the diaphragm, etc.
Repeat about 19 more times. Have fun! :D

50 get up/get downs so far might do 10 more. Swing the mace 10 times in each direction. Worked in the garden digging a hole for the grape vine and planting violas. 15 rounds in each direction with the Bulgarian Training Bag.
Still need to do a few rounds with the Kali stick. Then I'm done for the evening.

Today, however, I would really..... reallllllly like to get back to the Oasis studio for at least a 1 hr. class of Yoga... my whole body is BEGGING for the exercise! I went running today. About 2.5 miles, but I had to walk long stretches because my stamina was quite down due to a combination of a heat wave (all of a sudden we're up to a humid 32 degrees celsius) and because I haven't been running as much as I wanted. But there's more where this came from! :-)

I just started exercising regularaly about two months ago. So for March I have been going toward some new goals I set for myself...
I started out mid January doing only cardio. I worked out for a total of 25 minutes on the treadmill and 20 minutes on the stationary bike, 3 to 4 times per week. Over time I have increased the incline on the treadmill from 2.5 to 8 and I raised the level of intensity on the staionary bike from 4 to 7. I have also increased my treadmill workout to 35 minutes, and reduced my time on the bike to 10 minutes because I got really bored with it. My goal is to replace the bike with the stair climber but my balance is not perfect so I'm feeling a little intimated by the climber. Actually I have been too afraid to even step on it!!! I just stand in front of it and look at it. So I have to work on that. Look out stair climber!!!! I have also just added strength training to my workout. Love it! So I have increased my exercise time from 45 minutes 3 to 4 times per week to about one hour and 15 minutes 5 times per week. I'm not obsessed - I probably hate working out like most people, I think. But I am getting older, I need to lose weight - but most importantly I need to get healthy. Exercising has made me feel great!
Goals for April: Ditch the bike and get on that stair climber and add a cardio class or dance class or some fun activity to my workout!

30 min run after work. Felt like double dipping today. Then I thought what the heck are you crazy. At about the 25 min mark my right leg was just crying out STOP! But I didn't quit till I was done. :)

Today is W3D1 (week 3, day 1) of the couch to 5K running plan that I'm doing. I'm loving it so far. I'm preparing myself for my first 5K run in July.....and trying to lose 50 lbs!

Stretching, running with dogs in dog park, breathing in clean air, being grateful for the motion in my limbs... yoga tonight before bed.
Excited about Dashama's 30-Day Global Yoga Challenge... it starts April 1 and I'm on it.

Just could not drag my bootie out of bed this morning. My body needed rest, so I gave it rest. Hitting the gym for a late night run in a few min. I was going to skip it but reading this post helped to get my off my booty. Thank you.

Sounds like a great day! :)
I'm going to check out Dashama's website again. Didn't she have something that you could do a 30day challenge at anytime? Thank you for bringing her to my attention months ago - she is awesome! :D

Yesterday I ran 3 miles on the treadmill. Then I thought I'd take the pups for a run. WOW...I thought I was going to die. Puffing and panting like a power smoker. Don't know if it was because I had already tired myself out at the gym or what. Today, I am taking a free morning. I will work out this evening. Its a strength training day.
