Heading to New York and Chicago

I am new to eating raw and I am loving it. I am heading to New York and Chicago in a couple of weeks and I know there are some good raw restaurants in those cities- which restaurants are the very BEST? I am also looking for organic juice/smoothie bars. Thanks for the help!

Borrowed Earth Cafe in Downer's Grove Illinois is the BEST raw restaurant. It is unfortunately about 45 mins to an hour outside of the city of Chicago.

I agree, Pure is the best but also really pricey. If you feel like trekking out to Brooklyn--Raw Star Cafe is just awesome and totally affordable. Bonobo's also has great soups and things.

Lifethyme and Intregal Yoga (both health food stores) also have lots of raw snacks and ready to eat items.

Oh, and Raw Soul up in Harlem is also so good.

Really, they're all good. If I had to order without thinking about price I'd say:

Pure
Raw Star Cafe
Quintessence
Raw Soul
Bonobo's

Thinking about price I'd put Raw Star Cafe first.

Oh, and for juice you have to go to Liquiteria. Get the grasshopper.

agree with katy on all counts....

raw soul is excellent and often has classes, too....
but definitely quintessence and pure are musts.

q has lunch specials and pure has a takeaway around the corner. oh, and next to q is live live to stock up on raw supplies.....

someone mentioned jubbs - pretty sure that has been closed for awhile....

and i haven't been to chi-town, but if i went tomorrow, i'd go to karyn's for as many meals as i could get in....

OH!

and the newest Whole Foods on the LES (it's H-U-G-E) and in their take-out section they used to have a raw food bar - not sure if they still do - haven't been there since last fall.....but a very nice expansive salad bar and seating upstairs in a nice windowed area that overlooks the street.

it's on houston - just 10 blocks south from quintessence/14 blocks south from pure.
