Can anyone tell me if the Hurom/Omega VRT makes good citrus (orange/grapefruit) juice using the fine filter (I prefer less pulp)? I read it makes purees of these fruits rather than juice but I suspect they used the coarse screen to get this result.
Citrus is one of the things I juice the most in my Green Star and want to make sure the Hurom does it well also.

Not trying to be a smartypants here, but why would you juice citrus in a "juicer" anyway? I find it's more difficult than the regular citrus juicer spinny kind? I'm so technical....LOL

Because a juicer extracts double the juice than even a professional citrus juicer, so it costs half the price to make citrus juice in a juicer than with a citrus juicer.

Thanks. But I generally do drink the pulp, so nothing is left ----well a little is, from using the reg citrus juicer. But I def see your point if you want it pulpless.
Looks like you and I are on the same Hurom/Omega VRT path!

I needed something that will quick juice citrus in morning.

The OrangeX is the type of juicer that was shown to get half the juice compared to juicing oranges in a green star. I prefer to take a few extra minutes and not pay twice the price for my citrus juice.

Wow. My Jupiter(orangeX mid size manual press)is working great for citrus juicer. Just press the handle down, Juice collects in glass & drink it. 10-30 sec to clean. Works great with Pomegrate also.

the Hurom juicer makes citrus juice FAST. It does have pulp even using the fine screen. However, you could throw a nutmilk mesh bag into your juice container ... run the fruit through, then squeeze out the juice to remove all the pulp. In fact, I've done this a time or two just to see what it was like -- only took a couple extra minutes and the juice was pretty darn clear. However, I prefer the pulp, so now I just leave it in there.
Every morning I juice a large peeled grapefruit, a peeled orange, a kiwi, and 1/4 fresh pineapple. Makes two 8 oz glasses of juice ... one to drink right then, and one goes in my lunch in a glass jar. Only takes minutes. I rinse water through the juicer ... then let it sit until I get home. I juice carrots/celery/apple and cucumber (and sometimes other veggies) to have with my dinner. then flush the juicer with water again.
I clean the juice once a day (before I go to bed) and set it up for the next day. Works great.

Is there a lot of pulp even with the fine screen? Is it like "With pulp" orange/grapefruti juice you'd buy at the store or more or less pulp than "With pulp" juices?
I should be getting my Hurom any day now.

Vrijesh --I'm quite happy with a regular citrus juicer for my citrus, but NOT pomegranate.....OOOOOOHHH pomegranate. Might be worth it to get it just for that!
I've actually read and used my regular spinny-type elec citrus juicer for pomegranate. it works, but misses a lot of the seeds, that I then just squeeze with a spoon into a strainer.
I figure my (manual) Foley would prob do pomegranates, but don't feel like pulling it out/cleaning it for just one or two pomegranates, which is usually all I've got!
LOL, I was just reading how 8 oz of pomegranate juice per day reverses/is good for atherosclerosis. Didn't know that.
As I recall, it does contain estriol --one of the estrogens, which is good for (especially) menopausal women.
Sorry, didn't mean to hijack this thread for pomegranates!

Mary Kay, did you get the Hurom or Omega VRT?

raweater ... I can't really answer your question about comparing the citrus juice 'pulpiness' from the Hurom to the 'withpulp' that you buy ... I've been raw for so long I don't have a clue what a store bought carton of juice would be like.

Raweater,
I ordered the Omega. $295 for everything. That's why I chose it. Cuz it was the best price I could find.

Raweater,
I got it from a local guy who's a raw-food chef/has a business and wholesales Omegas. He doesn't make much of a profit on them. I asked if he wanted me to tell anyone else and he said yes.
Since he's local, I don't have to pay $10 for shipping, but you would, so it would be $305.
I can give you his email if you like...

Thanks but as I said I already bought the Hurom for $329 which should be delivered tomorrow and I prefer to avoid Omega products due to the serious health hazard their Omega 8000 series poses which they knew about for years before solving the problem plus I believe they left all the ones that had the faulty items on their own and didn't replace the faulty auger as they should have, especially considering it could make you very sick or kill you (it puts highly toxic melamine powder into the juice/pulp).

Well, it's only 25 bucks.....
So how can I be sure they're still not using any melamine?
Can't imagine they would though....But again, I do understand how you would not buy on principle.....
I'm going to google melamine auger Omega.....
Thanks,
Mary Kay

The Omega VRT doesn't have melamine and doesn't grind it's auger into powder in the juice like the Omega 8000 series do.
