Anyone know how to keep the vitamix inside (in the crevices) clean? The green gets in that receded parts in the canister and it is hard to get out. Any ideas? Thankx

I don't have this problem. If there's something in it that doesn't readily wash out with a warm, soapy water cycle, I just let it sit for a few minutes or so and then turn it on. It has worked just fine for me this way, removing "cheese" sauce and ground flax seeds - as just as few examples.

Thank you for your reply. Well I got it used....it is amazing yet it has been having a build up of green stuff I think. The crevices in the container have a film. I know if I get it all off (scrubbed it with baking soad and it didnt work well) that wiping it with olive oil or something helps the green not adhere.

I'm sorry I wasn't of help, but I'm happy that you have a Vita Mix! :D I didn't realize until after reading Terry's response that you had just now gotten your "baby!" I hope you can find the trick to getting the build up out, wish I was of more help.

I know you can buy a new container. Not sure of the cost!

Take it apart, clean it, put it back together.

I've just been rinsing it after every time I use it. I guess it is due for a scrub down, not that there's a build up on it though.

To seal the cover/container to blend, do you all push hard on it to sink in down in?

Mine seems to not line up right and it takes some effort to get it sealed and on straight???

Yes, you really have to push down hard to get the lid to seal tight.

I know the green film you are talking about inside the VitaMix container after making a green smoothie. The normal cleaning method of blending water in it with a drop of soap will not always get the film off. I have found that a long handled bottle brush does the trick. The brush I have has a long wire handle and a ball of plastic bristles on the end. Make sure to remove the container from the motor base when doing this. Put the container in the sink, add a little water and a drop of dish soap and gently scrub the sides of the container. The bottle brush can also be used to gently spin the blade to clean the bottom of the container. Again, make sure to do this in the sink, never with the container on the motor base.

Mine is stained for life I think. I just rinse it real well after each use and put it upside down to dry. It doesn't bother me that it's stained green, it just looks well loved. :p

I always fill it halfway with hot water and a few drops of dish soap, and turn it on high for 20-30 seconds. This was cleaning it well enough, but after more than a year there was some buildup and cloudiness.

Recently I got sidetracked and left the Vitamix on high with the soap and water in it for almost 5 minutes. It rinsed out looking almost like new. There were only a few spots left that came right off when scraped with my fingernail.

A word of caution, when you pour the soapy water into the sink, BE CAREFUL!!!!!! IT WILL BE BOILING HOT!!!!!!!!

Many times I rinse the container out with the sink sprayer. But if I've left it set with remains in it all day (running out the door in the morning and not taking time to clean it) ... then it goes in the dishwasher .. comes out sparkling every time.

So glad to hear that my vitamix container isn't the only one that starts looking cloudy. It really doesn't bother me but my son came home and the next thing I knew, he was taking it apart and cleaning it....which was great.

I had this problem too, asked the rep at Costco about it and she had the same, she said to use a degreaser and wipe/sponge the insides and it will come off.
