View Full Version : Eager but feeling ... unsupported

I've been looking into starting a raw vegan diet for a couple of months now. I'm a healthy, happy weight and people already complain I'm too thin, so it's not for that purpose.

To be honest, the more research I've done, the happier people seem on a raw vegan lifestyle. I love raw veggies and fruit (I eat a lot of salads :D) and recently I've been feeling very unsatisfied whenever I eat COOKED food.

So, I decided to go ahead and start my raw vegan challenge for 30 days. This way I can see if what I think is the right choice for me actually is, instead of constantly contemplating it...

I guess I'm just feeling a little unsupported atm. My entire family (except my mom -but not even she wants to go completely raw vegan) is already waiting for me to fail. All of my friends think it's some sort of joke.

I guess I didn't expect the ridicule I'd be feeling ... so I've decided to come online and find some support, even if I can't in real life!

Hopefully I'll make some friends here to soothe the transition :)

Jump on in!!! Just GO for it!! ;) If you stick to your guns whilst doing it, rather than talking about it, maybe they'll see that you're capable of it. & maybe they won't. You've got to do it for YOU!! Welcome aboard!! :)

Hi there,

Thanks for the support! Hehe, I am starting on Monday :) So I will be putting it into action. Hopefully it'll be a breeze, but something tells me it'll be a bit difficult. I won't give up though! :)

I've learned not to share my personal choices with others over the yrs. If it's not considered 'the norm' then you are not 'norm'. I do not tell anyone what my plans are for anything especially my food choices unless they are someone I who will support me.

Welcome! You are your best friend and motivator. Go for it and enjoy. You can also surround yourself with lots of raw vegans in RL, it's possible: potlucks etc. Make it happen and enjoy. It IS easy if you decide that it is :)

Wishing you the best on your 30 day challenge.....if you really want something that's motivating and inspiring......get Alissa's book and DVD's....she sells them together for less. These will get you through the 30 days and if you watch the DVD's maybe someone else will see them as your watching and sometimes I will leave what I'm reading laying around the house and even have it opened where I'm reading. Having it out peaks peoples interest and they will always at least read the underlined parts. I got this idea from a friend who has several children.....she said that if she had something she wanted her children to know about, instead of coming across preachie, she's just leaves an underlined article laying around and before you knew it they had all read it. Just an idea. Welcome to the forum.
