smart idea or bad idea? Over the summer I had a good time eating just watermelon for four days. It was great to simplify, i lost some weight, and it was delicious. But I stopped when I started feeling crazy from the sugar. Like lots of dramatic crashing and crazy sugar rushes. I kind of wanted to try eating a non-sweet fruit for a while, and tomatoes came to mind. I'm a little worried that such an acidic food will hurt my stomach though. has anyone eaten just tomatoes for a period of time? What other non-sweet foods would be good to spend some time with? cucumbers?

That sounds like a really terrible idea. If anything, I would drink tomato JUICE, because it gives your system a chance to heal. Or do water with a little lemon juice.
I'm sure you will find, like with the watermelon, that if you eat only one thing, after a couple days your body will revolt. There are much less stressful ways to drop weight quickly.

Its not about weightloss, it just feels really nice to simplify periodically. But maybe you're right that tomatoes may be too harsh for this.

All summer I made bruschetta (tomatoes, basil and garlic), and ate it pretty much every day until my tomato plants died off, it never bothered me at all. I did go through withdrawal when I stopped, I craved it something terrible.
EDIT: I just reread you post, I didn't just have bruschetta, I also had a quart of green smoothie everyday.

i've done tomatoes for days... and my body LOVED it.
give it a try. if your body doesn't like it, you'll know it and then you can change it up!

i'd try it and see how you feel. i'm sure you know this but you could also do mono meals of different foods during the day... good way to simplify but still get variety.

Depends. My body hates nightshades.

I have eaten mono of the following and NEVER felt better! Amazing..
banana smoothies for 10 days
mangoes for 2 weeks
melons for 10 days
mono meals of melons and mangoes only for 30 days
mono durian day!
Truly an incredible healing experience.
I don't do well with cherry tomatoes though. There isn't enough calories in Tomatoes to do mono successfully, i would recommend a fruit high in carbs to keep you going like bananas or another sweet juicy fruit :-)

I'd say be careful if they aren't vine ripened tomatoes because they contain much higher level of a substance called solanine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solanine) which can actually be poisoning.

Obtaining minerals through greens or celery (or green supplements) will help balance things out so you can do any fruit.
