I've done fasts before, only for like 3 days though. All my life I've only heard that fasting will slow down your metabolism and make it impossible to lose weight. Is this true? What is the "proper" way to fast?

there is no proper way to fast. a fast is whatever you want it to be. after all... you can fast from ANYTHING.

as for your metabolism, a good way to keep it up is to exercise!

I think it helps. I believe fasting gives your body a break from digestion so it can heal other things in your body that might be going on, along with giving your body proper rest so it can rebuild. So I feel like it's a jumpstart!

I think that INITIALLY fasting does slow down your metabolism but this is only temporary. Once you resume normal eating your metabolism speeds up to normal again but tnhe problem is that people have a tendency to eat their normal amount before their metabolism has adjusted back to food again hence weight gain. Also, many people binge as soon as they end a fast (when your metabolism might as well be dead) without an ease-out or anything so the weight gain is RAPID and you end up with weight plus some.

I recently did 6 days on the master cleanse and I binged my heart out straight away for 4 days afterwards and gained it all back plus some. But I know if I had done the ease-out correctly and just watched my digestion until my stomach wasn't complainy, I probably would have gained back minimal.

Just my two cents.

.

So true!

I've done the Master Cleanse quite a few times & everytime I've always eased back into eating. I've never had the weight come back (unless it was months down the road & I was eating more than my body wanted!) as a result of a fast. Actually alot of times I end up still loosing weight once the fast is over.
