Is it true that all imported produce from Mexico are irradiated?
I read that Gamma irradiation kills all enzymes and most minerals and vitamins. So irradiation practically renders a food item un-raw?
I checked with a local Vitamin Shop grocer. They only carry organic produce. They claim imported organic produce are not irradiated.
But what about unorganic ones? Are all Mexican produce irradiated? Certain items, like jicama, have no organic ones.
If anyone has correct information on this subject, please share.

i dont know about irradiation but i used to work for an organic produce delivery company in Washington State and all the boxes of organic mangoes that came in from mexico said "hot water treated"... i dont think h ot water is as bad as irradiation, but alot of those mangos didnt ripen properly/i.e. then rotted before they even got ripe...
I was under the impression that all irradiated foods had to carry the international irradiation symbol? Called a radura, I think. Looks like a flower in a circle.

Kaybee, I heard that about Mongo too. So that probably means these mongoes are no longer alive?

Is the radura symbol stamped on the fruits/produce?

This probably explains why the mangoes I bought at Costco would always rot before they ripened. Sheesh.. *Ü*

No a sticky. Like the little stickies in the grocery stores with the produce code number on them.

I've never seen anything marked that it's been irradiated yet I've been into Fu-Bon in Portland, Oregon, an Asian supermarket that imports mostly out of China. That imported stuff, like the durian, unfortunately, has to be irradiated yet there's no labeling. Makes me kinda suspicious. But now I started a buyer's club where I'm buying beautiful organic produce at wholesale price and d on't need to worry about it.
