For the past few days we were waiting on a paycheck so we could go shopping, so I ate what we had left in the house. Mostly olives, bananas, raisins & other dried fruits. Not the best course of action. Now I'm up about two lbs and haven't been able to go for awhile. Are there any certain foods I should be eating now that will help "flush out" my system? I have plenty of stuff now that we've gone shopping. Should I just do green smoothies for a few days? I've never had this happen before while raw, LOL, it sucks.

Greens do it for me. I try to have a green smoothie (big - 1.5-2 quarts) in the morning, a green juice in the afternoon and a big green salad for dinner.

Also - our holistic MD recommends taking magnesiums to "bowel tolerance". My husband swears by it, he always had problems until taking the magnesium this way. *Ü*

My advice is:
1. Stop eating dried fruits for awhile.
2. Make sure bananas are VERY ripe before eating (no green on stem)
4. No nuts for awhile.
3. Eat lots of raw celery.
4. Eat Big green salads.
This works for me. ;)

Thanks, I'll definitely stay away from the dried fruit. It was just that we had nothing left in the house so it was dried fruits or SAD foods. And I definitely make sure my 'nanas are ripe, I can't stand the taste when they aren't. Yuck! I guess for lunch today I'll make a huge salad followed by some green juice or another green smoothie. I wonder how long until it helps...

I know it's obvious, but I just want to put a reminder about:
Water thought the day (2-4 quarts)
and not during meals - a minimum of 15-30mins before your meals if you do it then.

I have definitely been drinking plenty of water. One question though - why no water with meals? :)

IDK, I have given myself a break of drinking water this week. I usually take in 4 liters/1 Gallon at least on average. That's a lot of water for me so I need to start early, & I usually drink it with meals.

It's already been stated, but I have found drinking a TON of water, helps get me going *daily* ;)

If you are having really water-rich meals (not dried or dehydrated foods), it's not needed and might cause digestion issues. It was a hard habit for me to break :D

Green Smoothies, Applesauce and Fasting all do the trick for me. Especially if I'm liquid-fasting and just drink water and Kombucha tea!

I've heard a lot about kombucha tea but never actually tried it. Does the taste take some getting used to? What does it taste like?

I drink kombucha nearly every day. I've always had constipation, since I was literally an infant, and it helps. I drink it in the morning on an empty stomach, and usually it works before I can drink it all(unless I've skipped a few days and I'm already backed up).

The taste is something to get used to- it's a bit like carbonated water but with a vinegar-ish taste. You can get it with added 100% fruit juice, too.

Try eating more high water content, fresh, whole (as is), raw fruits and
veggies and see if that helps.

figs really help me even though i can only get them dried where i live. they will have you saying "holy figs" in no time. or try smooth move tea although senna can demage your intestines if you use it too often.

Cucumbers are so hydrating that juicing them or just increasing your intake should be a big help.

figs and also magnesium work really well. Chocolate has a lot of magnesium, and is a great laxative... as a kid my mom would give me chocolate when I was constipated and it worked every time! I'm surprised the raisins made you constipated though.. they act like an intestinal broom for me

How do you make your tea? Or where/what brand do you buy?

I found a cleanse recipe and it worked like a charm :cheer: - can be done 3 -4x/week.

Quart of room temp water with 2t celtic salt. take licks of lemon. about 1/2 hour later I was clean as could be to start my day off ! I forgot to lay on right side for awhile, but it still worked. It took getting used to. I've rinsed with salt water but this is a first for drinking.

reminded me of my days of drinking tiquilla only water in it's place !
