My dad is going to buy me a new blender for making green smoothies and other raw meals. He found a blender called Breville for $300 and wants to get me this, as he doesn't want to spend $600 for a new Vita Mix..He's not interested in getting a used Vita Mix with no warranty.
Does any one here know anything about the Breville?

i'd get a vita-mix with no warranty before i'd buy any other blender (except a blend-tech)...

here's a link (https://secure.vitamix.com/acb/stores/5/Factory-Reconditioned-Vita-Mix-5200-White-only-while-supplies-last-P815C120.aspx) for a refurbished one in canada - $499 with free shipping!
Have you checked out a BlendTec (http://www.blendtec.com/)? They're $400 - I love mine. *Ü*
I'd get a VM before a Breville, but I have a client who just got one. It's beautiful on the counter, a lovely stainless steel model. I was expecting it to not do that well, but it was fine! I left my VM in the car (I had brought it for our lesson, just in case).
Still... I'd go with a VM... but I wanted to share the other side. :)

I'm trying to convince my dad that he'd be taking a risk with buying a Breville, and it might end up being a waste of his money..hopefully he'll listen! He's not onto raw foods so he doesn't understand how important good equipment is to us. I just keep saying that all raw food experts and long time raw people highly recommend the Vita Mix.

Buy a Vitamix. You won't have to replace it in your lifetime. ;)

Well he bought me the Breville, and if I don't like it he'll take it and buy me a Vita Mix. Who knows maybe the Breville will be excellent? I'll write a review.
What a nice Dad you have! *Ü*

Hey,
I have a Breville. I think it was like $165 or something. I've had it for a year and a half and I use it 1 or 2 times a day, and it's good enough for me. I'm sure it doesn't pulverize things nearly as good as the vitamix, so I guess I have to chew a bit which I don't mind. One of the buttons has broken for one of the speeds but that's okay. I also like that it is glass.

Yes, I'm grateful that I have a dad that can and will still help me out with things I really need. The Breville he bought me was $300 ( Canadian) so hopefully it will be excellent.

I have a Breville also. It was $200 and I had 40%off at Bed Bath and Beyond so I got it for $160. I got the coupon on a whim so I was already planning to spend $200. With the money I saved I bought a mango slicer, nut milk bags and something else I forgot. Anyway, it has been trial and error but I do like the blender. I make alot of green smoothies and I have to liquify everything ( all greens and most fruits with a peel on it) with some water and then I add banana or any fruit with no peel and hit smoothie. Took me a while to get this dance down good. I have made dressings, crushed nuts, and ice cream with it so far. I hav had no issues and it is not very loud either. I did not have the money to buy a VM as I also bought a juicer around the same time.
