Does anyone just have one of those days?

Sometimes greens just don't cut it. Sometimes I just want lots of salt and fat. When those times come, I usually resist. Today, however, I felt that two avocados with lime juice, a generous sprinkling of salt, a side of olives, and some serious cilantro, mashed up and eaten ravenously with a spoon and no shame, was really the only option. Honestly, I can't say I feel bad. It was damn good. That's my kind of raw. Thoughts?

About a month ago, a raw chef at a potluck served "Avocados on the Quarter Shell". It was avos cut in four, sprinkled with salt and pepper. It amazes me that I never thought of eating one plain with salt/pepper. So simple and satisfying. Since then, I have been eating an avo with salt/pepper almost everyday. I'm wondering if it is a winter, "I'm craving fats" thing. Whatever the reason, I've been grateful to find avos frequently on sale for $1.

My thoughts are if you want avocado, serve it up the way you like it. No guilt.

Did I read somewhere that the type of fat in avocado is useful for breaking down other not so healthy types of fat....?

Yeah - same here. If I don't get in enough fat, my body lets me know it. I'm not shy with the avos either. I buy the packs of 5 at Costco almost every week. *Ü*

I am fairly new into the raw, but yes avocados are a mainstay for me at least right now..at least 1/2 of one daily if not a whole..
I love the ideas of just salt and pepper..I usually mash it together with tomatoes and cilantro, jalapenos and salt for a suedo guacamole..but I will have to try the plain way too, sounds delish and so simple.

..and yes, Costco has a great deal on their giant avo's.

me too...when it was getting cold, I was devouring them. It was all I wanted. I could eat 5 a day but I don't. I've limited it to 1/2 unless really cold & ntohing satisfies me. Then I take the little left in the shell & smear it on my body..it feels so good.

Avocados are my new "chocolate". I generaly eat at least one a day. I generally eat them out of the shell with a spoon, sometimes if I can resist long enough - sliced with a little lemon juice and salt. They're too expensive to eat any other time of year here, so I eat with abandon when they're in season. lol

It's been a couple yrs since I went in to Costco with my dad, who was a member and they just didn't have enough organic produce to make it worth my while - so I thought.

So now all you folks are telling me how they have all this og produce ---and avos ----How much are they? Generally.

Now I may have to go visit Costco again.....sigh......
