I dusted mine off. I used it the first day I got it (few months ago) and wasn't able to make the nice fat thick strands of spaggettie I wanted. Can someone tell me how to do it?:p

Hi ~ I looked up the saladacco on Google images so I was sure I was replying about the correct slicer. I have this one and if you're going for spaghetti strands - this one will only make angel hair, very thin strands.

If you like thicker strands, then this (http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail/params.item.K7702.desc.Fuller-Kitchen-Solutions-Manual-Vegetable-Curler-Slicer)works really well. I have this one too and it's the one I use the most. I ordered it here too - the price is great. *Ü*

Ha - you're welcome :D

Do you have a mandoline or a julienne peeler by chance? *Ü*

w00t w00t! I just ordered that one from QVC! I've been using my vegetable peeler, but I want it to look like actual spaghetti so I took a leap and went for it. It's less expensive than the Spirooli one I've been eye'ing for so long. My daughter is going to have sooo much fun watching me make pasta with this bad boy! :p Thanks for the link DebB!

You are SO welcome OMJ! I've had it (from QVC) for quite some time now - back from my low carb days! We've been eating zucchini pasta for probably 8 or 9 years.

And QVC has the cheapest price on this that I've ever come across. I've even bought them as gifts - people love the strands that come tumblin' out.

Did you watch the demo video on QVC? *Ü*

Now you KNOW I did! :p:p And once I did, there was no fighting it...it had to be mine! Delivery estimation says next Tuesday, I can't wait!

You're right, the price on this is the best I've seen. You'll easily pay upwards of $35/$40 for this elsewhere. I had to have it! My daughter just asked if I could make raw pasta salad the other night, I'm going to surprise her with it after this arrives. I can even use this to make my noodles for my lasagna! Yayy, I'm so happy! You posted that link right on time, I can't thank you enough!!!

I have one of these, and just actually made some zucchini pasta with it, looks great.
http://www.moulinex.co.uk/pages/food_cljulie.htm?OnpageA=1
...but it looks to be hard to find here in the states, mine was purchased in Sweden, at a flea market..and it came with 5 different slicing and julienne wheels..
Sounds like you got a good thing going with the QVC thingy though, let us know how it works.

^^ I'll definitely update you! I've been using a regular ol' vegetable/potato peeler and it worked fine, but I've really been wanting to have my zucchini shaped like spaghetti. I think it will make my daughter so excited!

Hi OMJ ~ What I like doing now with the pasta is to toss it lightly in some EVOO and a bit of salt (optional) and Italian Spices about 20 minutes or so before eating it up. The oil & salt wilts it down, sort of simulating it being cooked al dente.

Before that, I would make it up in the morning and set it on a towel lined tray to help wick the water from it and let it air dry most of the day to be ready for dinner. I learned this from Matt Amsden (I think that's where I saw it...)

If you make it and eat it plain - that's fine, but it can get pretty watery. Also, you may want to cut it up a bit with a scissors otherwise those strands are upwards to 8 feet long! Our friend was over and asked, "Just how big was that zucchini anyways!" lol *Ü*

This is EXACTLY what I want to do!! My daughter has been asking for pasta salad, but she didn't want it with my potato peeler designed noodles. lol

And I know just what you mean about the wateriness (is that a word? lol) of the zucchini. That can be a real pain when I'm the noodles come out as thin as they do when using my potato peeler. I instinctively began using paper towels to wick away the water after finding myself in that situation.

Thanks for all the tips, you're awesome! :)

I'm guilty of potato-peeling my zucchini, too. :p Even though I just call the result fettucini, I've been wanting a more noodle-y texture.

Deb, does that one from QVC make thin noodles? I always preferred ramen and angel hair noodles.

Hi drolemil ~ No, it does not make angel hair size noodles, but this one (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dgarden&field-keywords=joyce+chen+asian+spiral+slicer)does. I'm not advocating ordering it from Amazon, I just linked to it because of the picture. I've got it as well and it makes a very fine strand.

Here's a video with John Kohler demonstrating the saladacco (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTfTKJdjjUc). I love this guy!

And here's John again demonstrating the one sold on QVC (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WFHqKTI9Lo), so you could compare which size of noodle you like better. John sells them both as well on his site. *Ü*

The stands look perfect in both, so I decided on the spirooli since it has more options and seems easier to use. :) Thank you so much! I can't wait for it to arrive! Potato-peeled noodles were beginning to get tiring. :o

w00 h0000! My vegetable spiralizer came today! Yippee!! But I'm out of zucchini (darn it!) so I'm about to run to the market! I can't wait to surprise my daughter. I've been tempting her for days now, telling her I had a surprise for her today. She's so excited...and so am I! :p Thanks again DebB!

I just used mine yesterday! I actually demonstrated with 2 zucchini for our Raw Food Meetup group on Sunday, so I knew I'd be having spaghetti w/ marinara on Monday ;)

I demonstrated the spiralizer, the spiral slicer, mandolin and a veggie peeler - all for making pasta. No one had ever seen them before, so that was FUN!

Have fun with yours!

So I had quite a variety of shapes and sizes in my pasta yesterday. I did like I said above - just tossed it with a bit of EVOO and Italian seasonings and let it sit for an hour or two. It was so good... Let me know how it turns out okay?

Also - if you have problems removing the blade to clean, just push on the back (not the front!) bottom of the blade insert and that will help disengage the locking tab. Mine's still sticky after all these years, locks in really well. *Ü*

Hey DebB! It was so fun to use this vegetable slicer/spiralizer thingie! :p I went with just plain on pasta and marinara sauce, but I'm thinking of making the "pasta salad' that you created for my lunch tomorrow. Yuuuum! I love this thing! LOVE IT! :D:D

I agree - I still just :D when all that pasta comes tumbling out the back of the blade. LOL! (sign me, "Easily Amused"). *Ü*

My spiralizer came just the other day, and I made some spaghetti tonight. :D It was much better than with potato-peeled noodles! I had a great time slurping up the noodles, though my face got a bit messy. :o

DebB, thanks again! It is sooo easy to clean and wasn't pricy at all! :)

Hi drolemil ~ I'm so glad it will work out so well for you! Yes - that's the best price I've ever seen (on QVC).

I thought you might like to see the pictures below that I made last week. It was the first time I spiralized the butternut squash. The recipe was good, but very rich. If I make it again, I'll have to eat a lot less than I did, ha!

Here's the video if anyone's interested - Butternut Squash Spaghetti w/ Sage Pistachio Pesto (http://www.youtube.com/user/rubyvrom17#p/u/5/MIlRihOpGKA)

That looks amazing! I've been wondering about easy ways to use butternut squash lately and this fits the bill! Noodles are so fun. :p Once again, thank you DebB. :)

Richness is never a problem with my teenage tastebuds. ;)
