Hey everyone! I need a little advice here. For the past month or more I've had what I think is a really stubborn yeast infection or possibly bacterial vaginosis. I've gone to the doctor and been treated for both (diflucan for the yeast, antibiotics for the bacterial infection). But nothing is working! I mean, I'm still going to doctors and being tested for everything under the sun, but I've had yeast infections like this before that are just really really stubborn.

My question to you is, are there any alterations I should be making to my diet? Possibly laying off the sweet fruit until it clears up? I know sugar feeds the yeast. i mean, i thought of fasting, but there's no way for me to do a juice fast cuz I can't afford a juicer and don't have access to one. any thoughts?

and any other tips would be great thanks!
hope everyone is well!

Hey Kid Kid,

How is your blood sugar?

Low glycemic fruits and when you do eat fruit, eat some fat to slow down the rate in which the sugar floods your bloodstream. Or just avoid them if thats possible for you.

You may also want to incorporate wheatgrass into your diet, as much as possible. frozen if you cant get fresh-but fresh is defintely best. you can order kits online if you would like to grow your own.

savory green smoothies.
sauerkraut and kim chee.

Just what I would do.

I've read lots of interesting advice here of RFT. These are two of the threads that came to mind.

hmm, i feel like i've read something indicating that mixing fruit and fat is the ideal recipe for candida.

i'd avoid any fruits for a week or two and add a lot of garlic to your diet. garlic wrapped in gauze and inserted like a tampon is supposed to be helpful too.

I didn't get to check out the threads RK provided, but if it's not in there....Probiotics is one of the BEST things you can do to help prevent/correct candida infections. The antibiotics were a bandaid solution, killing off the bad bacteria (providing temporary relief), but also killing off the healthy stuff as well. If the healthy bacteria was not replaced through your diet, or in large enough amounts - the bad stuff takes back over with a vengance.

There is a brand called Renew life that has a vaginal formula with higher strains of the lactobicilli bacteria (including acidophilus) which are more prominent in the urinary & vaginal areas. It has 50billion live & active cultures and is kept in the refridgerated section at most health food stores. I am a manager at a small health food store & have had women tell me this has changed their lives - going from reoccuring yeast infections for years - to none.

I hope you can find relief in whatever avenue you decide to persue. :o

thanks for all the great advice and the links to those other posts!

In response to the question about my blood glucose levels, I've actually been wondering the same thing. I have PCOS and I know I have some blood sugar issues :(

yeah, I've been steering clear of the sweet fruits. The fruitiest I get is tomatoes, green peppers and avocados. Other than that I'm just eating as many greens as i can. I miss sweetness, but its not so bad. If it'll help with the yeast then its well worth it.

I've been using garlic internally for weeks now, but I haven't been eating much of it. I just took about half of a large clove with water, like a pill.

I also just tried a little coconut oil on my skin and ohhhhh maaaan. Instant relief and it feels and smells soooo goooood. and I heard it was naturally antifungal too. woo! I love that stuff. Is there anything it won't do?

Oh um, I've also been taking these rather cheap probiotics called FemDophilus, which has 2 kinds of lactobacillus in it. I couldn't afford any of the more expensive more comprehensive probiotics.

boric acid (vaginally)

tea tree oil (vaginally)

I've never had a yeast infection but this is what all the ladies tell me :)

I cant tell you that for me boric acid vaginally worked quite well. Put it in a gell cap and insert before going to sleep. Usually takes about a week to get the full effect.
